Press night here in Sunderland and never seen a theatre so dead. Top two levels are closed and coming up to now 15 mins late. Not sure what the reason is. Will report back further later

Had an email from Sunderland Empire that the Wednesday evening performance is cancelled and they want to refund my ticket. Tickets still available for the matinee. But I guess it isn’t selling well. I’m still seeing it the Monday, Thursday and Friday so it’s not like i’m Missing out but I always think it’s such a shame when tours have to do that 😕

I’m making my first trip to the fringe festival this year and based on what is offered at present I have decided on what I want to see but that could change if there are shows still to be added! Quite a mixture of theatre and comedy for me which I love! I can’t wait!!

I can’t wait for this to come to Sunderland. Booked 4 performances and may book more depending on how I feel that week. It’s such a classic and I love it for what it is.

I’d very much like to see Simon Bailey play Phantom if he ever gives up on playing Tommy DeVito in Jersey Boys. Lol

Cast announced. I do hope Marcus Collins shows up in Sunderland after I blasted him on Twitter for taking credit for his understudy in Hairspray when it came around a few years ago. I don’t have much confidence in his casting as Hud

I’m back for a 2nd viewing this week. First time seeing Leo Tavaro Valdez as the Engineer. I quite like him. He reminds me a little of Jon Jon but then not as he has his own spin on the character and i’m A fan of his comedic delivery. At times I feel Ashley Gilmour gets swallowed by the music and he doesn’t seem to be in control. But he has some lovey moments with his Kim. On Monday I saw Sooha, my 2nd time as I saw her in London when she was the understudy. But tonight I’m seeing Ayrand Ferrer who is quite sweet yet powerful and her acting is very good. Sunderland has Tam’s who are all girls and it looks like they’ve had their hacked off in the cruellest way. I thought tonight’s Tam was going to cry in i’d Give my life for you. The tempo of the music does seem to have been speeded up since London but i’m still very much enjoying it.

Interval at Sunderland. Have they changed a bit of the dialogue from London? Dju vui vay is something completely different! Loving it so far though and my flatmate who has never seen it before seems impressed!

Just booked this for on my birthday!. I’m only familiar with the film so to see a live production will be fabulous, whatever form it takes. Just a bit worried about getting lost in the park like I did last time when I went to see JCSS!

Just got back from seeing this tonight. Firstly to echo previous thoughts, some of the costumes for the main characters are very unflattering and just not right for the characters. Some of Elle’s outfits were questionable. I did like the Delta Nu’s matching outfits for the final courtroom scene and Elle’s Legally Blonde remix dress! Also the costumes for What you want were great! Lucie is a wonderful Elle, a bit too goofy for my liking but she did make me laugh and was very believable. Her singing is strong. And guys she is deffo starting to show! Rita Simons was good as Paulette. She deffo is in my top 3 out of the many Paulettes I have seen. Bill Ward was a mixed bag for me. He sped through a lot of his dialogue and I don’t think his singing ability was quite there. But there was something likeable about him. Liam and David as Warner and Emmett, thumbs up! The Vivienne whose name I can’t remember has a great voice but I feel her wig and her costumes made her look a bit too old. The ensemble were fabulous. I think the set is pretty good for a tour, didn’t bother me one bit. I took my friend along to this for her birthday present(she hadn’t seen it before) and she said it was the best thing she has ever seen! I loved the new remix at the end, really got the audience buzzing and finished off a very entertaining evening. 9/10 from me. Now to wonder: who will be Elle in a few weeks time?

I finally got to see this show tonight thanks to reduced tickets from TodayTix and I really enjoyed it. I had only heard a few bits of music from the Hey Producer DVD I own but I liked what I heard. And tonight I enjoyed it a lot. Yes the plot is a little thin but the cast bring such an amazing energy and sense of enjoyment of their roles that you get quickly immersed in it. I loved the bluesy songs and thought the staging was really clever. Audience were on their feet and everyone seemed to be having a good time which I feel is important in a theatre visit. 9/10 from me!

Gahhhhhh!!! Last time I came to Dreamgirls in December the show was completely cancelled due to flooding. I dared to come back this afternoon, seen Act 1, and I am changing and then the curtain has gone down and technical difficulties have been announced! Why am I cursed?!!!

Been given an announcement to stay in our seats and the delay shouldn’t be much longer. But even the MD has buggered off lol. Bit disappointed for my friend who I have brought for her first time as she was buzzing for this show!

I have seen The Little Mermaid tonight. A very beitiful piece, the music is stunning and the way they create the effect of being underwater. I loved the costumes of the mermaids and Prince Adair has something similar to Aladdin from the musical. The choreography was fab, so fragile and little movements in the water scenes that showed fluidity and then bigger, more daring style choreography for on land. This is definitely not a Disney telling of the show and it’s great to see the original Hans Christian Andersen story

So Ria is pretty fantastic as Norma. There were moments I felt she could have made the character more unpredictable but the way she played it actually worked well and I loved her voice,so strong and clear. Danny was good acting wise but I felt his voice wasn’t quite upto such a big score. He had this strange ability to make me not like him but like him at the same time. Molly as Betty was very lovely indeed and I enjoyed Adam Pearce as Max. The stair case was cleverly split into 3pieces but it didn’t bother me how much they were moving it about. Very glad I saw this production I don’t feel like it’s a tour done on the cheap and it’s worth a look!

To those of you who have Twitter, do you know a guy called Jon Moses? Apparently he used to be on Jesus superstar search show and for the last year I keep getting notifications of him following me and then begging me to follow him back and making a bit of a nuisance of himself. Tempted to go tell him to sling his hook but I'm just too nice ...

So last night I went to the Sunderland empire and bought a programme for the box office. Cost me £2. Walked into the theatre and was offered the programme for £1. Got a £1 refund. Inside the auditorium even at 5 mins before the show started it was barely half full in the stalls from what I could see and there was only a handful of us in the dress circle. I had booked a side on view for £15 but was able to move front and centre a minute before it began. Onto the show it's self. It starts off without any introduction really, no pre show announcement, the lights dim and off we go. And it's not the most cheerful of songs to start the show with, the opener is very sad and quite depressing. Ian Reddington and Debra Stephenson seem to spend a lot of time sitting on the floor in this show. The actors all try to do their best with the material they have but it's very poor quality writing. It takes itself far too seriously whilst trying to shoehorn in as many Dusty songs as possible. I didn't laugh once and there is potential to throw in some comedy moments. The ensemble work their socks off whenever they are on stage. The upbeat numbers are few and far between and when they are in they are cut in half. Debra as Alison is average, Diana is great, Michael Howe is pretty good and so is Ian. Of course everyone is just waitin for the title song which typically comes right at the end but the whole ending feels very anti climactic. I don't know enough of Dusty's music but I feel she either has a limited back catalogue to use or they used the wrong songs. Set design is just one piece in the middle of the stage that opens and closes and other bits are pushed on and off. My favourite thing about it was the Cappucino sisters, they had the stand out wigs and costumes compared to others in the cast. 4/10 from me Mr Revel-Horwood!
