Anybody heard anything about the new cast members that are joining in about a weeks time?

Has anyone worked how the flying effects in this show work? I would love to know ! (Perhaps someone could explain, but hidden in a spoiler?)
Is the bed just a case of a “bed on a stick” or it is a bit more lavish than that?

Any idea which two? I could make a good guess but wondered if you could confirm James Lee Harris and Kate Ivory Jordan

Looks like they've hired some more ensemble... good idea given all the current talk of casts being stretched too thin. So good luck to them too! Two ensemble members actually left, so they’re just replacements I believe!

The poster in the theatre showed Jack and the Beanstalk for this year. Where in the theatre?

As Richmond Theatre are doing "Jack and the Beanstalk" this year my money is on "Sleeping Beauty" as the nearest Crossroads production is in Plymouth this Christmas - or possibly "Aladdin" as the nearest is Crewe and I can see Julian as the Genie of the Ring (!).I suppose it depends on how many sets they have and whether they want to make a new one specifically for the Palladium. They always build new sets for the Palladium - it’s Crossroads’ highest budget venue. The un-announced, but in the planning stages, production for 2020-21 was due to bring in a new set designer Mark Walters. We’ll just have to wait and see what they decide to do

In a now deleted timelapse video, the set is extremely scaled back than the West End run. It seems as if there are no crystal curtains, the stage deck isn’t the glossy wood panelling look and there are only two moving light towers with static lights rather than moving heads.
It’s a shame really, but hopefully the lighting boosts the set’s appearance for tour!

Does anyone have a photo of the understudies list from a very recent programme?

For someone previously so notoriously fussy about the sound of his shows and orchestrations etc, how is he so blase about Cinderella’s threadbare and synthetic sound? It really is bizarre. I remember him saying in an interview (not about Cinderella) that he wants a larger orchestra but can't have one. Again it comes down to investment. Why would he prefer not to have one anyway? That doesn't make sense. That said, I do think the smaller ensemble works well in Cinderella and that is thanks to the brilliant orchestrations. Perhaps the logistics of space in the Gillian Lynne is the issue here that is restricting the size of the orchestra? They’re currently on a small-ish platform above SL, so maybe there just isn’t space/availability of an orchestra pit to have a large, lush sounding orchestra with full brass/wind + percussion.

Some auditions were held today - seems a bit early for any type of cast change doesn’t it?

Is the transformation effect during Let it Go like the Broadway version or like the US Tour/Australia scaled back version?
Intrigued to hear a concrete answer from someone who has already seen it in London!

I’ve heard a name and if it’s true, I am very surprised they’re going down the stunt casting route this early on…. Any hints?

Whatever's going on, I hope the producer has good company management in place to look after some fragile feelings. Joseph's last run ended on a sour note, with accusations and upset in both directions re. Sheridan Smith. It's always even more of a shame when that occurs around a show that is projecting warmth. Maybe in a few days it will have faded away as an issue. What happened last time?

The set features a very large 14m x 8m LED Video wall at the back of the stage!
Fingers crossed the show doesn’t rely too heavily on graphics at the back then!
(A post explaining and showing it is tagged under the location of the Bristol Hippodrome on Instagram)
A revolve can also been seen on the stage deck!

She sounds fabulous In the show- maybe this was recorded during technical rehearsals when they were exhausted?! I know it’s personal taste, but I’d rather have had a really dashing Billy. He’s fine in this- but totally forgettable. The Press Call was earlier today

Automation doesn't make a good scenic design and also lack of automation doesn't make a bad scenic design. I suspect automation would be very hard anyway in that theatre/set because of the revolve. Does it actually use click tracks or are the armchair experts here confusing click tracks with using keyboard synthesisers? If shows do have a lot of automation that is more likely to lead to click tracks to keep the music in sync with the scenery. Careful what you wish for. Armchair experts. Ha. I’ve professionally worked with click tracks. They have nothing to do with being in sync with scenery - a click track is a series of audio cues used to synchronize sound recordings. If a live show involves pre recorded tracks (the entire percussion, brass and some strings here in Cinderella) the live band will play alongside the recorded click track. I’ve also known in some ALW musicals when the lead role is struggling (fact) or in the case of the title song in Phantom of the Opera (due to Phantom and Christine moving all over the stage before the famous boat scene) that click track recordings are used WITH pre recorded vocals too. The actors then mime their singing on stage! Click Tracks and Scenery/Lighting sometimes do work in conjunction with each other actually! For example, many lighting cues in ‘Six’ are automated and therefore are triggered by certain beats of the click track that the MD has, as well the programmed ‘pop’ sounds used in the show too. This means night after night a lighting cue always lines up with the right beat of the score, and would never be slightly delayed by human error. I suspect many lighting moments in ALW’s Cinderella are also pre-programmed to be triggered on the right beat of the click track. As the MD doesn’t have any say in the tempi of the songs each night (as every song has pre-recorded band parts), I’m sure being automatically triggered saves the DSM a lot of work!

Wait, is the cast only 5 people, or is there an ensemble to be announced too?
