It looks like dippy is leading with seven visits so far. I too have seen those same covers and tonight we had Greg Bernstein replacing Christopher Howell as Bert Barry. He was very good although seemed somewhat younger than Christopher Howell which slightly unbalanced his pairing with the amazing Jasnar Ivir as Maggie, but it was fine. The audience was smallish, but what they lacked in quantity they made up for in lively responses to all the numbers. Maybe it's like that every night but the punters did seem very enthusiastic, more so than last Monday night with lots of cheering throughout the whole show and also some intermediate cheering at key points during the finale. Tonight I specially admired all the costumes, particularly Sheena Easton's dresses. Also, tonight for the first time I spotted Clare Halse executing a fine jetée during the 'Go into your dance' routine but I nearly missed it so that's my excuse now to go and see the show again so I can watch it properly! The show just gets better and better and my imagination was running riot because I kept on thinking that there were more dancers on stage than before. I know that's not possible but it seemed like there were multitudes of them! Again it's surely my imagination but I got a bit more out of Clare Halse's performance tonight than I did the first few times I saw her. I spoke briefly to Jae Alexander at the end of the performance before he left the pit and told him the continuing success of the show was entirely down to him and he seemed pleased! A0 (first time) was cramped as expected but as soon as the band struck up I completely forgot about the restricted leg room. And I have decided the two greatest words in the English language are not MUSICAL COMEDY but FORTYSECOND STREET! After all that magic tonight, how am I going to respond to Follies tomorrow night?? Did you see when one of the girls mirrors broke during one of the numbers? It just fell on the floor and it really was a dangerous hazard! I thought everyone dealt with it amazingly! It must have travelled across the entire stage because as soon as a dancer came near it they managed to kick it away - incorporating it into the routine almost haha. Props to the main guy who attempted to throw it aside whilst singing!

I hope the theatre accepts latecomers! The trains have been awful, only just arriving at Waterloo! Wish me luck getting in...

Its interesting though isn't it, that we pick out the male ensemble to focus on in these numbers, moreso than not just the females, but for me anyway, some of the main cast haha! Speak for yourself, I couldn't take my eyes off the female ensemble This mean you can speak on Ella Martine as Lorraine? Ahahah dying for a word on her

To all the 42nd street fans on here, who's the stand out member of the ensemble to you? Need some ensemble members to watch out for! Personally I'm excited to see Ella Martine as Lorraine as I've seen her dance before and loved her!

I'm just glad she's getting a bit of a mention, it's an official account so people will see it. Even if it's with their sales in mind rather than actually pushing Karen's talent, I'm sure she'll appreciate it.

First time Karen's been announced to perform, and they're bigging her up like something's different about this performance. Weird that they're finally mentioning her this late in the run..

Well it's not quite what you said is it. You said Marisha had "basically confirmed" (your words), I posted when it had been actually confirmed. Anyway it's irrelevant, same end result. Do you think they are gonna release the vids of Marisha and Karen singing And I am Telling You. I definitely hope so, would love to see them.

Yeah it was a press night for Marisha. I gather they're going to be doing more promotion around her as alternate. Link please? And this seems so unfair towards Karen! She deserves more Karen looking stunning as always. She's a classy queen for smiling and taking the night like a champ, because if it were me, I wouldn't even be able to force one.

Does anyone have any suggestions for the new Deena? I always thought this girl Jade Novah would make an amazing Deena. Although pop backgrounds have a bad track record with this show..

Marisha is on tonight and there's some sort of press night going on. The screen in the foyer as you go down the stairs is also now playing a video, of both Marisha and Karen singing AIATYING (not at the same time) Interesting. New trailer coming?

Seems like she's finally started to drop her hit and miss reputation, you go Karen! I'll also second the fact she's my favourite Effie!

Karen was on when I saw the matinee on Saturday. Don't know whether Amber was off ill or whether only some of her holiday was cancelled though. How did you find her? would be nice to have more reviews on Karen to reassure anyone who may have her sprung upon them

Apparently a sound guy forgot to turn a mic off backstage last night and the audience were treated to Alice asking "where's my f-ing hat" 😂 At least she didn't make the Kerry Ellis mistake of saying "where's my f**king hat because I'm gonna throw it at those tw*ts in the front row" omg are there videos of these? xDDD

Just come home from tonights Les Mis show and the Understudy for Javert was honestly the most incredible Javert I've ever seen in my entire life! His acting was just absolutely amazing! His name is Shaq Taylor so be sure to watch out for him! I can't wait to see Shaq as Javert. That first moment I saw him onstage as Prouvaire / ensemble I was like... oh he is going to be an amazing Javert. Hoping he is still on on Monday when I go. Honestly he was so incredible, I never really was interested in the Javerts but this time I was obsessed! Way more amazing than killian as 24601 imo - so in love!!

Also special mention to Karis' Jack's eponine I found her very refreshing and new, showcasing the more fearless side of her character - I found her movements very clever as if she's convincing herself she's strong and fearless which explains her jerky and sudden movements.
Wonderful new cast!

You beat me too it! First time the poor girl has been on in weeks, maybe Ruth will make an appearance? 😎 how do you know? Like has it been announced? About Karen being on for both shows today? She told me herself on twitter (Marisha is on holiday and today is a scheduled Amber holiday I believe)

I know it's all a bit uncertain but if Amber goes ahead with her holidays, Karen could be getting a long run of shows as Marisha is also on holiday from tomorrow! You beat me too it! First time the poor girl has been on in weeks, maybe Ruth will make an appearance? 😎

I saw her on Tuesday. It's nice to see Amber fully embracing method acting. Effie would sporadically and randomly miss rehearsals as she pleased, so Amber is doing this with performances. Ingenious. it wasn't as she pleased, Effie was pregnant

I'm so glad they've put it down to 6, I think it was crazy to expect her to sing the score 7 times a week, especially when she hasn't seemingly had a lot of musical theatre training. Obviously I don't have a clue about professional singing but the score seems hard as hell to sing. I think they should take it down even further and just hand out equal shows to all the Effie's, that will ensure Karen has more time to perfect her role (because bless her she hasn't had much of a chance!) and I feel it will allow for a smoother exit for Amber coming to the end of her run.

So if Amber was off for some time, now she's back on, I wonder what will happen with her holidays that are scheduled from this Friday. I can't see that she wouldn't go ahead and take her holiday as planned. Her attendance record is through the floor anyway so I think the damage has been done on that one. If memory serves, this is her 2 weeks off, too, which doesn't look great..., you never know though, Karen *might* get a show whilst she's off 😱 Just for 'one night only', mind Sometimes I wonder if Marisha and Sonia have Karen locked in a dressing room whilst she quietly weeps 'and you, and you, and you, you're gonna love me...' That sounds about right! And once in a blue moon Karen escapes, does like 2-3 shows in a row and then disappears again for 2+ weeks. I think you nailed it there!

This is interesting... I wonder how Wikipedia came to this peculiar conclusion, the recent Effie schedule certainly doesn't reflect this. Funny how it seems to be based entirely on the fact that the word "alternate" was removed from both Karen and Marisha's names on the website. ...interesting.

This doesn't really count I dont think but The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee - The I Love You Song There is a little overlap but the 3-way harmonies towards of the end of the song are amazing!

I guess when your coming from a pop background, the world of musical theatre world is hard to hold your ground.
