I’m really happy with this cast except for the fact Ryan Reid is staying on as Fiyero…

Saw this last night and really enjoyed Chelsea's performance, she has a pretty and strong voice that really shined during the climaxes of the songs. I will however say this production isn't as tight as the west end show (obviously) with some scenes feeling incredibly longer than I remembered, though this might have been a chemistry issue with Chelsea and Matt.

I also had a problem with how all the new disney princesses were rendered into the new animation style, especially Tiana! How in 2018 you get your first african american princess so wrong is totally beyond me, in the trailer her skin looked practically mixed race and not to mention very red and greasy looking (and that mixed race esc light brown fine curly hair!!!). I did however read somewhere that disney agreed to make her a more accurate representaion of the real Tiana but as I have not seen the film yet I cannot speak on this. Here is an edit someone made on how Tiana should ave looked (and Aurora it seems but I thought she was fine in my honest opinion). Looking at the comparison is quite shocking in my opnion!

Wow... Turned this on just for something to watch and I am really shocked at the semi final line up! Not a bit of talent in plain sight! I get the feeling that the producers of the show encourage the girls with capable(ish) voices to oversing their songs and add uneccesary runs and high notes to impress (works for most of those zombies though it seems). Last of the talent went with Shan in my opinion, a real shame as they gave her all the wrong song choices.

You can definitely get by with just your booking confirmation if you're booking a standard ticket. However, if you're booking a concessionary ticket, you'll probably need to take evidence that you qualify for the concession. I presume you're looking to buy an under-18 ticket? The NT's FAQ states that these tickets cannot be posted out and must be collected from the box office within 90 minutes of the performance. Although it doesn't state that proof of age will be required, the fact that you have to collect your ticket in person on the day of the performance does at least imply that they could ask. You could gamble - turn up three minutes to curtain and hope they can't be bothered checking, or apologise for having left your ID at home but one look at your face should convince them you're a child, or show them your ID with confidence and remorsefully explain you thought 18 year olds were included, or even point out that the FAQ doesn't state you needed to bring your ID - but I think if you've turned 18 by the date of the performance, then strictly speaking you're not really entitled to an under-18 ticket rate. FAQ: www.nationaltheatre.org.uk/help-centre/ticketsIf you have reasonable flexibility and you want a low cost ticket, you'd be better off hanging out on the NT website and waiting for returns, or getting involved with the Friday rush. Just as much of a gamble, but a fairer one than trying to claim a concessionary rate that isn't really yours anymore. (Also, have you looked into Entry Pass? I expect the Hadestown Entry Pass tickets will be long gone, but it's worth checking, and if you have that option open to you, then if any Entry Pass tickets get returned, you'll get dibs where an ordinary person wouldn't.) Thanks for the info and tips, I will take all of these into account!

Does anyone know if you need to bring anything to collect tickets from the box office? Hoping to book a concession ticket, however, by the time the show comes around I would have already just turned 18 so wondered if I needed proof of identification.

I really like Roanoke! I think they did the docu style very well, had me on edge the entire time.

I honestly think the Dreamgirls film is better than the musical! Better character development! Wow, really? I really hated the film, especially thought it was horribly miscast (Jamie Foxx, Eddie Murphy and yes, even Jennifer Hudson) and some of the story arcs particularly involving Jimmy were ridiculous. The stage show characterisations just had so much more charisma and was so much tighter without some of the unnecessary new songs. I guess its a matter of personal opinion! I preferred how they actually had a girl play Effie's daughter, Magic, rather than have her mentioned in a passing comment. I found that I also quite liked the end where Curtis comes to realizes who Magic is! I really do also think that Lorell and Michelle were very well cast and I warmed to them much more than the stage characters (I find Lorell on stage becomes almost a caricature, whilst Michelle is literally no one)

Not sure when this change was put into effect but according to the cast schedule, Karen has now been moved to Wednesday matinees with Moya taking the Saturday matinee.

Sian Nathaniel-James has returned to the cast in place of Samira. Funny how the producers keep relying on the old cast to fill in, like Jocasta. Wait, when did they get Jocasta back? I'm pretty sure it was for one of the tv performances! She filled in for one of the dreams, the memory is a bit hazy though.

I'm so pleased they've finally cast a black girl as Cosette, only took them 33 years! Cosette has to be "fairy tale pretty" and also have an amazing voice and be able to make a rather small role stand out. From what I've seen, Ms Okereke ticks all those boxes. A case of "best person got the job" and no more, which is as it should be. I can't seem to find any videos of her singing, could you guide me somewhere?

Neither did a good job in the lip sync in my opinion. Someone had to go I guess.

Booking to March 19. (Sorry if we already knew this). I do hope they’re not going to flog this at the Savoy until it’s a shadow of it’s original fabulous self. Get it out on tour. Wondering about cast change.. Such an awkward date to get a new cast in for such a short run

I wouldn't say lavish but they were definitely much more clever and worked more! I cannot get over how the moon in this production is literally a woman sat in a chair! I personally love the set pictured above, it was used for the Roundhouse production of the show with Novah as Caroline. Heres another well-working set: Although not lavish, they are definitely luxury compared to what Chichester have prepared - which I can understand as Minerva is a tiny theatre, but this show could have been staged effectively in the main one.

I wonder if this has a possibility of extending at the playhouse, although I see they do a lot of limited run shows there

Rooting for Monet x Change,
However not gonna lie I’m super disappointed with how bland some of these queens are, I’m seeing sooooo many block coloured outfits.
I’m sure jasmine masters would have something to say about the line up this year.

The final lip sync was ummmm very underwhelming? Cannot believe the whole show was spent leading up to a wrecking ball lip sync...

This is really good. Best thing upstairs at Hampstead in a long time. Fine direction & design, a knockout performance from Sharon D Clarke, who somehow doesn't just play the character, but inhabits her, and a fine supporting cast. The piece works beautifully in this intimate space. Get a ticket, before everyone else does. How were the radio girls?

I also really want Eva Noblezada as Elphaba some day PLEASE but she'd probably do it on Broadway rather than over here. Oh and Lucie Jones a few years down the line would be amazing. At least one of them auditioned for Elphaba recently so perhaps... I'd be soooo down for Eva.

Full casting has just been announced with quite a few returners! This includes Abiona Omonua as Emmie, Me'Sha Bryan as the Washing Machine, Ako Mitchell as Dryer/Bus, Lauren Ward as Rose Stopnick, Angela Ceasar as the Moon, and Charlie Gallacher as Noah. I wasn't so keen on Abiona as Emmie and found her to be quite harsh? (however, maybe this is what was intended) though I much preferred Anika's rendition on the OBC, Abiona will do nicely. As for Noah, I believe this was the one who wasn't able to master the American accent throughout the entire Chichester run. I'm pretty excited to hear how these new radio girls are going to sound! Wanted to leave this on here, the radio of the original broadway cast were incredible and it’s definitely hard to be beat it. Ramona (on the left) gives such a stellar soprano performance.
