I used to think Emma wasn't that great an actress. Now when I think of some of the stuff she must have had to put up with at the stage door, yet she still kept smiling... give that girl an Olivier award! Hahahahaha. I take back what I said, she can act after all.

It all makes sense now. AliceFearnFan2212 was obsessed with Rachel and brought her presents to the stage door until she put in a restraining order against him and since then he has become bitter and tried to ruin Rachel's career by stating she does not have a powerful voice. I've never given Rachel anything. I might get her a card on the 28th but that's it. Anyone meeting up on the 28th fancy going to the stage door? We must tell Rachel you have been slating her performance so that she can rip your card up in front of you before riffing with power.

We have had the conversation of 'everybody has opinions' and 'everybody likes who they like' so many times on this board and this thread has been going around in circles for the past 20 bloody pages. However, you need to look at the bare facts here - Rachel Tucker has an incredibly powerful belt, I'm sorry but that can not be disputed. You were there yesterday at the same show that I was. Rachel sung the whole show pretty much straight to score, was obviously tired vocally and still knocked it out of the park. Yes maybe you prefer when she *braces self to utter this word* riffs but put that to one side for a second and think about what you're saying! Her voice is a force to be reckoned with. There were many people sat around me who in the interval were commenting on how good her voice is and they sounded like first timers. And I'm not having a go - Emma Hatton can sing. I think she was gorgeous voice with the right songs, in fact, and yes she can belt strongly but to say Rachel isn't as powerful is ridiculous. You were there yesterday, so i can say to you that yesterday i thought her power wasn't as great as usual but then again she was vocally tired (Sick) so that's probs why. Thanks for pointing out Emma. My opinion is that Rachel is more powerful with the riffs than without I never in my life thought an opinion could be wrong until now.

Thara interesting, especially considering more people would say she is one of the more powerful Elphaba's and more people would say Emma, for example, was one of the weaker in London anyway. Thats actually really interesting you say that. As I said when Rachel riffs she's powerful but when she doesn't I don't find her that powerful, she's definitely louder on recording than live in my opinion. As for Emma, I think she can belt and is really powerful when she doesn't riff, as well as does. You are possibly the most pretentious member of this forum. Emma can belt but has crossed the line and shouted on more than one occasion

Listen to Emma's last Defying Gravity. That was shouting, not power. There is a big difference.

Talk about putting her on the spot with "Did you see me tweet you earlier?" As if that wasn't bad enough he followed up with "I was waiting for a response."

Speaking of an over riffed mess; The flying section in particular has a few riffs in some weird places, notes held longer for no apparent reason, lack of control and to top it off her acting choices do not sound great. Very messy. Jodie is my second favourite Elphaba of 17. I was actually at this performance, I thought that she was incredible. I'm not quite sure how you can ascertain an opinion on someone's acting from the "sound" but I would say that of all of the Elphabas I've seen, only Ashleigh Gray acted the role better than her. You wouldn't go and see Wicked and sit there with your eyes closed for the whole show so deciding that someone is uncontrolled and even more bizarrely hasn't got very good acting, from an audio, seems strange. The best Defying Gravity I've seen was an Alice Fearn with minimal riffs, they don't make or break a performance, but in the context of Jodie's Elphaba, I think the riffs worked well. Also bear in mind that this was her third show, Emma Hatton was sounding like she was going to give herself vocal damage from the sheer unrelenting fierceness, and Natalie Andreou was still struggling to hit the "kiss me goodbye" note at this point, this is (in my opinion of course) a stellar performance. I am of course only giving my opinion based on what I have heard on youtube but it is still an opinion none the less. I have heard recordings of performers on youtube that have made me want to see the show but recordings of Jodie make me want to skip the show. Jodie could be a phenomenal actress but from her delivery of lines in that recording, again, particularly in the flying section it almost sounds as if she doesn't know what she is saying or why she is saying it. I do not mean to cause offence to anyone through my opinion.

I still stand by my opinion. It was painful to listen to - her voice will be ruined.

Yet in the last few posts youve expressed excitement about next weekend and Rachels last. Back on topic now though. Im happy now im sorted for both shows next saturday and really looking forward to meeting some fellow theatreboard members Yeah because the only things i like about Rachel's Elphaba are her growls and riffs, and some parts of her acting and i know she's gonna riff and growl a lot on her last show! AliceFearnFan where are you sitting for Rachel's last?

I don't think people even know what a riff is anymore. This is so true. I see it all the time in the comments on YouTube and it drives me mad. People confuse a growl or any change to the score for a riff. I'm so glad that when I was a musical obsessed, annoying teenager, I at least knew the correct terms and had respect for those who had been musical fans before me.

I'm probably the only one who is happy with this news - if it is even true.
Annie was my first ever musical so I would love to see this in the West End. I don't like this particular production's set and costumes but I would still go see it.

Looking forward to seeing Carina tomorrow then! Also I wouldn't mind if James Darch was on in that Fiyero costume. I didn't really like his Fiyero aha Then don't complain about people not liking Emma aha

I normally find (from experience) the people that obsess over certain performers only do so because that performer was nice to them (at the stage door for example) and now this person thinks they are friends.
It makes me wonder where the interest in the show stops and the obsession with the performer starts.

I know I will be attacked for this comment but I promise I am not trolling. I do not get the Willemijn obsession. I do not feel like she connects with the lyrics she is singing. Particularly at the end of Defying Gravity. Her "ahhh ahhhhhh ahhhhhhh" sounds very head voicey also. She can sing but something about her voice is displeasing to my ears.

I can't see there being many changes at the matinee, maybe a little underwhelming "is that it" speech at the end of the evening show. Apart from it being noisier due to the larger fanbase, I can't see it being they much different to Jenny DiNoia's last shows Jennifer's last performance was so disappointing. I think I may have set my expectations too high but she didn't really do anything I hadn't already heard on youtube. If you are reading this Jennifer, I paid slightly more than I normally spend on tickets in exchange for a few extra riffs and I was robbed blind. BLIND!!!

I'm sure this has been discussed but I couldn't find an answer (I promise I tried looking). Does Amber do the Saturday Matinee or is it one of the alternates?

I was shocked by that. Maybe it just came across badly but who does he think he is speaking to them like that. Yes I know it's Dannii Minogue but still, you asked for their opinions?! Then afterwards begging the Take That guys to justify his opinion. Has no one ever said no to him before? My thoughts exactly. Considering he has already been in a West End musical, in a way he has more to lose and he may have just lost it by behaving like that. Seems like he would be really difficult to work with.

I'm watching the second episode right now. Pretty sure I was in a show with Dillon Reid's dad. Dillon may or may not have been in it too. I just remember his dad wasn't very pleasant.
