I remember loving the original London production. I can't point out everything that is different about the new production but overall it felt like a different show.
I have mentioned this before but it still annoys me; in this production in raise your voice, both Lizzie Bea and Eloise Runnette sing a note that sounds horrible, in my opinion. It isn't the "Tu Solus Dominus! Tu Solus Altissimus! Iesu Christe In Gloria Dei Patris" part, both ladies sang that beautifully. However, shortly after this, Sister Mary Robert sings "Raise it UPPPPPPPPPPPPP" and the way both Lizzie and Eloise sing it sounds quite harsh and doesn't sound anything like the way Katie Rowley Jones or any of the Broadway/US tours actresses sang it. At first I thought it might have just been Lizzie but Eloise sings it the exact same way, so it's possible it might not have been their decision.
I know it is a very small complaint but it really doesn't sound as good as how it was done originally.

Apologies, I thought it was a Musical Theatre discussion board. My bad. From reading your posts, you were the one who made snarky comments towards someone else's opinion first. It sounded very much like you think you know best about anything musical theatre related, and many of your comments sound that way.

I'm hoping to see this soon. Does anyone know where the £25 rush tickets are normally located or does it vary?

I do find the Tony's farcical to be honest. Best Musical? Well fair enough, maybe it is, I've not seen it. Best book? Again, who knows, not seen it. Best score though? Do me a favour. I mean yes, music is SO subjective how does one judge. Personally, I couldn't make it through the cast recording. Shucked - great score. NYNY - good score. Some Like It Hot - fun big (slightly samey) score. Bad Cinderella - #SorryNotSorry - WAY better score - choon after choon. Tony's just decide which show they're gonna give everything to and go for it. It's a joke and not objective. Anyway, just my opinion of course. Show itself feels very Broadway. Can't see it doing well here other than in a Donmar Warehouse or similar type venue. That said it clearly speaks to some people so I wish it well.... You've said yourself, you haven't seen the show so how can you possibly say the score isn't good without listening to it in context? Each song in the show lets you know more about the characters and moves the story along. The story of the show is good but the score helps make it great.

I really hope this happens. It's just a small show about living your life, which is something everyone can relate to. I saw the show in December and I am still thinking about it.

FYI for Dublin audiences. While the tour is in Dublin Mrs J will be played by Rebecca Storm. I hope Rebecca Storm doesn't do the dates when the tour comes to Derry. The last time the tour came to Derry it was Rebecca and she was without a doubt the worst Mrs J I have seen. Such a lazy, unprofessional performance.

Lucie is on today (Sunday 8th January) This made me laugh. It's almost as if an understudy performance is being announced.

Got to see this a few weeks ago and it is one of the best shows I have seen in recent years. Would love to see this come to London.

I love Hocus Pocus, but from what I have seen from the trailer I am concerned about the sequel. In the original it states that the book is given to Winnie by Satan himself. Now in the sequel it appears to be given to her by another witch. I also find the acting choices/direction very weak however, I have only seen a two minute trailer so I will still try and watch it with an open mind as I love the original.

Lizzie Bea's note on "raise it uuuuuppppp" was a choice. I'm not sure if she has the range to hit that note or if it was a one off but it did not sound good. Errr.... whatever. She definitely has the range for it and sounded great. I am not hating on Lizzie, I saw her in Hairspray and loved her voice in that. She definitely did not hit the note that I am talking about though.

They had to leave out so much of Gregory Maguire's plot when they adapted Wicked for the stage, so the chance to expand it and restore some detail might be good. But does the teenage fangirl audience want more than the simplified Wicked plot they know and love? Open to debate... They aren't making a film version of Maguire's book though, they are making a film version of the musical. In my opinion this musical does not warrant two movies and I feel it may be a mistake.

Just seen this - this was not a good advertisement for the show. Debbie sounded the best and I even got Cher from how she presented herself. I did not get Cher from Danielle at all, she can sing though. Millie is in over her head. I know a job is a job but I wouldn't want to be the weak link.

Really disappointed to hear that Sandra Marvin will be playing Deloris on tour. I saw her twice in Hairspray years ago and then recently in Waitress, I don't rate her voice and find her very nasal and difficult to understand.

That's really interesting! I had heard her speak with an American accent before so I was a bit surprised. Very impressive.

Saw this last night. Matt Willis was absolutely terrible. Spoke really fast, and was so quiet. He mumbled everything. I've read that there are issues with the sound and I do agree as I found it to be very quiet, however Matt was just not good.
Sandra Marvin was also a weak link for me. Could just about understand what she was saying when she spoke but when she sings she makes a very nasal sound and I had no clue what any of the lyrics were, and I have seen the show before.
Chelsea, Evelyn and the rest of the cast were amazing though. So glad I got to see this show again.

I saw Chelsea in 9 to 5 and she cracked very badly during 'get out and stay out.' I am sure this was a one off but I hope her voice is up to some of the songs in Waitress as I am seeing it in March.

I was at last night's performance and I have to disagree with you about Rebecca Wickes, the girl cannot act. Yes the role of Veronica is open to interpretation but that character did not, in any way, resemble a real person. She acts like Sheridan Smith after drinking about 50 energy drinks. Her singing was lovely but her acting was irritating. Not sure who was playing Heather Chandler but I feel her idea of being a bitch is to shout all the time. That portrayal just didn't work for me either.
I really enjoyed Martha, Heather Duke, Heather McNamara and Ms. Fleming. I felt they were the strongest actors of the evening.

I really hope theatremonkey returns to the Theatre Board cast to resume the role he originated. Our show will not be the same without him.

I received an email this morning with information on how to change ticket dates or request a refund. Don't forget to check your junk mail folder as that's where my email ended up.

Marisha singing SUTBM is like nails on a chalk board to me. I'm sure she is a lovely person but I think she is overrated big time.

Victoria Palace "Annie" one Christmas. Fascinated and captivated by it all. The rest is history... The UK tour of Annie, many years ago had me fascinated and captivated too. When those buckets hit the stage I was sold on a life of musical theatre addiction.

http://instagr.am/p/B9Z2YHZp2HS Natasha Yvette Williams who's played Becky on Broadway will be the new Becky here for a 3-week-run (according to her Facebook). She was great when I saw the show on Broadway. Might have to get back to see her again.

There's a video of Marisha singing 'I know where i've been' on youtube. Yes she can sing, but I actually don't enjoy how she sings. There are some very questionable riffs and she breaks up so many words which just ruins the flow of the song, and it isn't just this song she does it in. I honestly feel like they could have found someone more suited to the role. I always feels like this song sounds better with the backing vocals in place - it never sounds the same without the backing vocals, so I think we should wait until she performs it on stage in the show. I didn't have a problem with the lack of backing vocals, I had a problem with Marisha's vocals. I have a ticket for the show, so I will go in with an open mind, although she hasn't won me over in the past.

Has anyone seen Rebecca Storm in this before? I'm seeing it in Derry and I was really hoping to see Lyn Paul again.
