Hello…me again. Annual q. But I’m out of touch with musicals.
So they have done Hamilton and we have tix for My Fair Lady but what other show would a 12 year old and his bro, a sophisticated 9 almost 10 yr old , like in the summer? I fear we have missed some classics.

Bedknobs and Broomsticks final tour date is 1st May. Seems destined for London for the summer surely?

‘Frozen’ is great, and not really babyish. Just breathtaking spectacle and some songs they might know. You could sit in Bodeans opposite and polish off a fair few hot dogs washed down with lashings of your favourite brightener Instead of shelling out for your ticket.

Not wanting to offend anyone (and I’ve not seen it personally), but wouldn’t Frozen be more appealing to girls? And would it have much appeal to pre-teens of any gender? My niece was obsessed with the film at 7, but by 10 was very dismissive of the sequel or indeed anything to do with it!
If they enjoyed Hamilton, then how about Come From Away, or Dear Evan Hansen - the latter I’m sure would be relatable to them?

DEH may be too strong for a 10 year old. I´d suggest The Lion King, the score is breathtaking.

Going by my niece and the children of friends and colleagues, it’s generally been the girls who are Frozen-mad. Additionally, I wonder if it’s a bit young and not very cool for a 12 and almost 10 year old who enjoyed Hamilton, but of course children grow up at different rates.
I like the suggestion of The Lion King for them.

I thought Frozen was pants for anyone. I’m a fool for a effect but I was totally underwhelmed by it. Expensive and overhyped.

It depends whether they are at that ‘nothing impresses me’ stage or if they still allow joy in their hearts. Its a difficult age spread.
