The Donmar's website shows the names of the next two productions: Sweat (6 Dec 2018 - 26 Jan 2019) Berberian Sound Studio (8 Feb - 30 Mar 2019) I think this is Josie Rourke's last season? No further information on the site (I think the titles have been released early by mistake), but googling around I suspect "Sweat" is the 2015 play by Lynn Nottage - variety.com/2016/legit/reviews/sweat-review-lynn-nottage-1201907656/. Berberian Sound Studio is presumably an adaptation of the 2012 Peter Strickland film - excellent film but seems like an odd choice for the Donmar.

Wow. Berberian Sound Studio!
Hopefully they're able to capture the eerie, atmospheric and oppressive soundscape of the film. If they do it could really make a fab play. I wonder who they would bring in for Toby Jones' role. Those are pretty big shoes to fill.

If it is the play by Lynn Nottage that’s yet another American play being scheduled.

It’s a bit of a coup for the Donmar to have the UK premiere of Sweat,

If it is the play by Lynn Nottage that’s yet another American play being scheduled. Only the fifth American play the Donmar has done since 2013 as far as I can see? (others being Belleville, City of Angels, One Night In Miami, Teddy Ferrera)

True! And I read some interesting stuff the other day on the fact that a large proportion of contemporary plays by women writers put on in London are by US women

Now announced: Sweat by Lynn Nottage Berberian Sound Studio based on the film, written by Joel Horwood Tom Brooke in the Toby Jones role. Priority booking from 25th September These are "the first two productions of Josie Rourke's final season at the Donmar" although I think Michael Longhurst takes over in March 2019 so there can't be much more to come from Josie Rourke since Berberian runs to the end of March.

Looking back, this time last year they announced 3 productions, the last one being Way of the World which ran to end of May. So suspect there's one more to come then Longhurst's first season starts in June.

Worth mentioning that Berberian Sound Studio is directed by Tom Scutt, hitherto a designer, in a not particularly common career move (in theatre at least, I know of a number in film).

Just found this snippet in a Tom Brooke interview: "The season, which includes a play yet to be announced that Rourke will direct, also features the UK premiere of US playwright Lynn Nottage’s Pulitzer Prize-winning Sweat."
So just one more from the Rourke era! And I know there have been complaints, but although some productions haven't worked, I personally have enjoyed her tenure overall.

Just generally, is the Donmar's website as horrible to use for everyone as it is for me? I'm on a big desktop and the whole process of scrolling down and then scrolling down that tiny bar - it's like that electric buzzing game in fairgrounds where one tiny movement and it disappears. Am I doing something wrong, and is there are more user-friendly version that I have dunderheadedly missed all this time? Is it designed for a newfangled big iphone with touch screen but not desktops and mice? God knows what this must be like for those with hand mobility problems or worse eyesight than mine...

No, it's an astonishingly poor website even on my laptop and much the worst of any theatre sites I regularly visit: poorly laid-out; faint; hard to see the most important features such as dates/times/availability; forces you to check the 2 seating areas separately instead of showing both at once; requires multiple clicks back and forth, etc etc.

Yes I noticed that. One previous example is Ultz who has designed many shows over the past 40 years ("Jerusalem" for example) but has also directed a handful of things including Pericles (brilliant) and Taming of the Shrew (awful). Another is the designer Bob Crowley who has directed a small number of shows (including the Phil Collins musical "Tarzan" I see - I must have missed that one).

I only got about 600 in the queue on my best device at the Donmar so had quite a wait to get in and after I put my tickets in my basket about 10.25 when I went to checkout it just stopped responding completely and trying to load on a different computer gave a site not found error. Judging by anguished tweets I want the only one. To their credit Donmar asked for a phone number and called me back within the hour and I got pretty much the tix I wanted.
Im up a level at the Almeida so got those Tues and All About Eve yesterday through DMG+ - but what a lot of activity for 10am on a Thursday morning!

@theatremonkey.com like @n1david encountered no end of trouble, wonder if they use the same infrastructure as All About Eve, at least pressing refresh passes the time on the train up to Manchester for Margaret.

Finally got everything sorted, now to do it all again tomorrow for the Old Vic.
At least it is a beautiful day in Manchester, will now amble to the Exchange for Margaret via a Guitar shop or two, adored The War Of The Roses at Kingston a few years ago, therefore high hopes the day will redeem itself.

A painless purchase tonight for both productions with my preferred row C side seats in the the circle available for both shows. Having a quick look across random dates, the stalls seem pretty much sold out with plenty of seats still available in the circle for both productions at all the ticket prices for that area.

Public booking for Sweat opened today. I suggest that anyone who wants to see it doesn't hang around. I got what I wanted, but there were very few seats left for any of the performances I checked.

I was in a meeting so didn't book till nearly 12 - as you say, Sweat is selling well, nothing in the stalls for the dates I looked at. Plenty left for Berberian Sound Studio.

As sf and xanderl say, I went on last night and there was VERY little left for SWEAT - and hardly any seats together - mainly just a the rare single seat. So I grabbed one of those for a matinee. I don't really get what Berberian Sound Studio is and it looks like there is good availability for that, so may book later.
