Not sure if day seats is a new thing but just in case... The new thing is that they appear to no longer be doing them on Saturdays!

I’ve been wanting to see the show for a while so a big thanks to @theatremonkey for the info on your site for the ticket offer in September. I’ve managed to nab the A33 Dress Circle seat for £20 for a Wednesday night as part of a WE theatre week I am currently finalising for the end of September. The savings made will be going in purchasing some of the 🥧 that are on sale (well it would rude not to). What offer is this please and what dates? I can't seem to find it, perhaps I've missed it though.

Six price £25 reduced to £20 with Encore or theatreticketsdirect.co.uk. A33 is about the only ticket at that price, so it may well have gone, though. Thank you TM!

I think he will do a decent job. He looks very young though so it's a good job he is paired with Laura and not Ashley.
I was going to go again this week but now might actually wait until he starts because i'm intrigued.

I thought he was about 20 for some reason 😆 Idk, I find this stunt casting to be disappointing. More so than Ashley tbh. With Ashley at least she had experience performing and singing (although I know she’s not the best singer) - with Joe they’ve literally just chosen a dude because he has tons of teenage stans to boost their tickets. He may well be a talented guy and I’m sure there’ll be people saying he can sing etc, but idk. All these stunt castings just take away from the show itself I think. But I guess if this is what they feel they need to do to survive .... and I’m sure he’ll bring new people to the theatre also so that’s always a good thing 👍

Some of the tweets at Joe Sugg fans btw are so unbelievably patronising, telling them they’re welcome as long as they learn theatre etiquette 🙄

This isn't me having a dig at anyone but genuinley wondering. What was everyone's reactions to Jack McBrayer when he was cast? Did he get the same reaction as Ashley, Blake or Joe?

When he was cast I seem to remember it was pretty positive, but that’s because he is a well known successful comedic actor and well suited for Ogie .... I don’t think anyone knew the level of how bad a singer he was until he actually started in the show lol, so he def got a lot of stick for that when he started 😆🤷♀️

Resorting to YouTube for your casting Waitress? I’ll just leave this here:

Joe Sugg is an interesting choice. It’ll make the show sell well that’s for sure. Moreso than any of the celeb castings so far. I think he can pull it off. I’m glad I saw it with Blake though (although I would’ve preferred Laura and Jack).

It's certainly got attention on Twitter - Joe Sugg and Ogie were both trending at one point earlier. I think he'll pull in decent audiences for Waitress

What are the odds of this extending into summer 2020? Not a Joe Sugg fan but would consider it based on the score alone which is quite good.

Here's his video talking about it. There is footage from the audition so you hear him sing and act out some of the scenes.

Well that looked great. Acting perfectly in keeping with the role and singing fine for this. A bit OTT but that works; its a caricature. He will just be sweet Ogie rather than weird Ogie or whatever Blake brings to it. Good on him!

I don’t know, I found Joe’s acting in that clip to be totally cringey and OTT lol, but it’s also hard to make any real judgements based off an audition reel when not in the context of the actual show. And like you say, Ogie is basically a caricature anyway!

Don’t forget, this is BEFORE he’s worked with the creatives.

I don't think that this audition would've given him the role if he was an unknown actor, but it's pretty good for someone who hasn't had training / worked professionally. Hope he improves his acting and he could be a decent Ogie.

This is, surprisingly, a great stunt cast IMO. Also shocked at how well he sounds in the clips, I think he'll be good!
He has loyal fans- and this will keep this show afloat a little longer 100%. I remember watching his channel when he first started! Haven't really watched YouTubers for about 4ish years I'd say- but wow, amazing to see him still doing well.
Also fun to see two massive parts of my life colliding (YT & MT)

I think his acting seems okay. It's in a big white audition room, interacting with an invisible person and with a camera trained on him. It's hardly very representative of how it will come across on stage in the actual show and scenes, i'm not really surprised if it comes across a bit OTT or awkward in that scenario. I think it would be the same for anyone.

Oh my goodness I absolutely LOVED this last night. It's not that I thought I wasn't going to enjoy it; I know the songs from the OBC and like them a lot, it's just I didn't realise how much I was actually *going* to enjoy it. And I also didn't realise just how laugh-out-loud funny it is too! Rushed the show on TodayTix in the morning, as soon as they went on sale I was instantly offered Row G in the Dress, no waiting, so grabbed them. Amazing seats!
Sarah O'Connor was sensational as Jenna. Fantastic actor, incredible singer, held the show together perfectly. She received a prolonged ovation after She Used To Be Mine and rightly so. Laura Baldwin was very sweet as Dawn (glad to have missed Ashley Roberts), Marisha Wallace was fantastic as Becky - especially in her number in Act 2. Only slightly off-putting thing about Marisha was her tendency to add vibrato in her voice to almost all of her spoken lines. Made it seem extremely over the top and unnatural. David Hunter was a brilliant Pomatter - chemistry between him and Sarah was palpable - and I just didn't expect him to be so funny! Gorgeous voice too - much preferred his singing to that of the Pomatter on the OBC.
The biggest surprise for me was Blake Harrison. Oh my GOD. He has incredible musical comedy timing, is hilariously awkward and has an extremely pleasant singing voice. And it's not that I thought he was good for Blake Harrison, if I'd have seen that performance from someone I'd never heard of, I'd also be thinking he was just as fantastic. Received a massive ovation after Never Ever Getting Rid of Me. All the supporting characters were very good, though I do feel slightly sorry for the ensemble who don't have much to do. Band were on top form as I suspect they are every night - great to see them constantly as part of the action.
So, the only thing that let it down for me was, surprisingly, the staging/choreography. All the choreo felt like a GCSE Dance/Drama project. Horribly amateur I thought, compared to the standard of the performances. The worst for me was when Jenna went into labour, and the female ensemble come on stage and are individually lit in blue spots copying her contractions. It was laughable - literally, as audience members were quietly giggling around me.
Other than that, I was a big fan and I will definitely be going again. Based on the video of Joe Suggs, I also think he's going to be really lovely in the role and will probably make a visit to see him, though I would love to see Blake one last time before he leaves.
4* from me!
