Yep, agree with emcee and ninja about Louise, what a shame. Now I'm wondering who we will get! I'm happy that I'll be seeing Fleeshman but is Maxwell Caulfield just another Marti Pellow or...?

I wish Anna O'Byrne was doing the West End rather than the tour. As it is I'll have to get myself to Norwich to see her. I'd like to have seen Louise Dearman as Miss Adelaide but I'm not keen enough for several hours each way up north. Richard Fleeshman I only know from 1 song in the Kings of Broadway concert last autumn & Maxwell Caulfield I know nothing about.
Edit: make that Woking or Milton Keynes, as Norwich has no decent seats left for the Saturday matinee.
Edit 2: £42.50 stalls on tour vs £71.50 stalls in London! I can't believe they'll cut the production down that much for the tour so that is a ridiculous price difference.

Ooh. That'd be good. Not sure if I really want to shell out to see it on stage.

Drat. Drat. Double drat!!! Fine. Does anyone know if Sophie Thompson does all matinees, or if she's due any dates off before it leaves the Savoy?

I know she did matinees on the pre-London tour dates, and nothing has been announced saying she doesn't do matinees, so I would imagine she does - of course with all the usual small print no guarantees etc etc...

I went on a Tuesday matinee a couple of weeks ago and had the full main cast (may have been no understudies at all, but I was UC and didn't see a cast board and was so far away it's hard to make out people if you don't know what they should look like). This was a day when they only had a matinee on Tuesday, so it's not like they'd have to perform twice.

Strange about filming.. The ATG web site now shows the special message under March 7 & 10 dates ("This performance will be filmed" or smth like that).

It's hardly Gypsy, it has definitely not had the hype that Gypsy had so I would think filming would be somewhat of a waste?
... who wants to put bets on that Funny Girl will be recorded too, the Savoy is on a roll!

Thanks for the replies, folks!! Still a bit reticent to see this as I'm really not sure if I'll like it. I do want to see more 'old-school' musicals but most of the ones I've seen so far I really don't like.

I'd be surprised. Hasn't Sheridan has already said there won't be a cast recording, because she didn't want to be compared to Barbra?

I saw this yesterday and I loved it. Not the best i've seen, but to me it was a highly entertaining show with some great dancing!

Just back from seeing it! So much good but it's just not for me. I think I'm just not an 'old school' musical type. I would've enjoyed it as a play.

Caught the matinee this afternoon on its last day at the Savoy. For me a game of two halves. Drags a bit first half aside from Cuba scene. 2nd half was fantastic though with no let up in the tempo.
Think the packing up for the move was a bit ahead of schedule. Scene in first half with telephone call was minus the telephone which was missing. Some good on the spot improvisation followed and deserved applause. Personally I liked the way Adelaide was portrayed.

Out of interest did Jamie Parker normally come on at the end wearing mission uniform and playing the drum. Seemed to be a lot of cast laughter going on suggesting last day antics.

Yes, Sky coming on at the end is part of the script! It is a final gag to see a committed gambler become a "redeemed sinner" in the Salvation Army!

I think the score is lovely and there are some magnificent moments but the book is quite dated and overtly sexist. The lyrics to 'Marry the Man' are cringe worthy.

The lyrics to "Marry the Man" are of their time, but the melody is great.
Saw this at the Savoy and thought Jamie was undoubtedly the best thing, learned about the extension to the Phoenix and was miffed I would be missing what I think would be a better cast - and today I find I've won tickets through a Dewynters competition! Whoop!

Didn't really fancy this, but Sam Spiro sold this for me. Why doesn't she get more leads? Worship Imelda, but hoping for Sam as Rose one day in the future. Love to have seen her Fanny Bruce as well.
