No brochure this time? I know the details are on the web, but the brochure was handier to pass over to OH and say "what do you fancy in this". Booking is next Tues for friends, has already opened for others and there was no mention of a brochure in the email announcing the new season. Is this the NT cost cutting, or has my postie delivered it to someone else? I just received my brochure in the post today, I had no idea the priority members booking opens next Tuesday at the silly time of 8.30am. Usually the NT sends an email announcing the booking dates followed by a link to the on- line brochure and finally the hard copy brochure itself. Only by reading this thread did I find out about the dates before today. Not sure why the NT has been so sloppy this time? It leaves little time to organise dates with friends and family before next Tuesday morning. Looking forward to the website meltdown next Tuesday at 8.30am, I normally have to take the morning off work to do the booking as I'm usually en route to the office when it opens. Is it worth the stress I wonder every time as I open the shiny new brochure? Most of the time this year it has not been worth it apart from AiA which seemed to have a totally different booking system.

Not sure why the NT has been so sloppy this time? It leaves little time to organise dates with friends and family before next Tuesday morning. They haven't been. My "save the date" email with booking times (it's always 8:30am as well, so not sure how that's suddenly silly) for members and links to all the productions that will be going on sale dropped into my inbox on 27th October. Maybe you have an over-zealous spam filter to blame, rather than a sloppy NT? Just a thought.

NT so late with the Booking dates that my Saturdays nights are mostly taken up to Easter. Managed to squeeze in a couple of Thursdays. I have booked for John having no idea what it is but I booked aisle seats so I can sidle away if necessary.

Must admit to being excited about Anne-Marie Duff as Lady Macbeth... I don't know whether it's been brought up before within all the Macbeth discussions but this will actually be here second stab (ha) at it. She did it on Broadway in 2013. It wasn't very well-received which might be why she's having another go.

It was a strange take on the Scottish play with witches in lots of scenes.

I had it in my head that this Macbeth was a re-mounting of THAT Macbeth, with Kinnear taking the title role over from Ethan Hawke. Can only assume I saw Duff's casting, put two and two together and got 400. Having read up on the reviews of the 2013 production, I'm VERY glad I got it wrong.

Now I've had time to glance at my brochure, I'm relieved - both because booking on Tuesday 7 at 8.30 am is impossible for me and because I might be immobile for some weeks if I have a further op early in the new year - to find that the offering is distinctly lacklustre.
Having read about what was coming up and being interested in some of it, I feared missing out, but most of those productions must be in a later booking period and of the new selection, only Absolute Hell definitely tempts me. However, even then I will at least want some casting info as I saw the Judi Dench version at the NT; plus there are further dates to be announced, so it can safely wait.
Also looks, from the performance times, as though it might be very long, and whilst I don't want a late evening finish, a 1.30 pm matinee is a pain, too, so I shall bide my time.

I can't wait for 'Absolute Hell' either to be honest and I'm very jealous that you saw Dame Judi in it. I've only ever seen the TV version. I'm sure she was thrilling. I think it looks very much like a Helen McCrory type of role to me. Someone of that ilk.

No indeed, @ryan - but I do at times avoid booking due to casting - and Helen McCrory would definitely deter me.

You missed a treat there, Ryan, although interestingly quite a few of the leads were played by the same actors when it came to the stage some years later. The biggest treat (apart from Judi, of course!) was seeing June Brown, live on stage, playing Dot Cotton! She was playing 'Doris', but you were waiting the whole time for her to call Christine 'Pauline'! (Seriously though, I do remember her being really good in this.) Can't wait for this one too.

Big shout out to Arthur in the NT Box Office helpline who couldn't have been more helpful when my voucher thing went pearshaped this morning.
I have to say though that an 8.30am booking start time couldn't be worse. All grand if you're retired in the Home Counties but a very different story if you have kids to get out to school and a job to go to. Blah! 😠

Very happy that - at least for me - the system didn't collapse this morning. Hope this means that the National has got their IT problems sorted.

Oddly, I got in straight in at about 8.25am... Macbeth seems to be selling well with very few top price tickets available

Oh, and you do have to log in before joining the line, not after, as the email they sent round yesterday stated. And you can log into your account twice on two different machines - but remember you have to log out on both twice too. I was only asked to log in after I got to the front of the queue. I was lucky today - started as 252 in the queue and got through at 8:38. Booked for The Scottish Play and Absolute Hell.

I'm going to do this if there are very cheap front tickets still kicking around by Monday, but with Mosquitoes, which I missed out on last May when public booking opened (all gone within minutes) and thought I'd have to wait for Friday Rush, but (thank you, person on here who told me about it!) instead I used the Firefox status updater and it didn't take long to get exactly the seats I wanted (I work at a desk so I'm here to hear the update pings). I wish I'd tried harder for Angels but I needed to get a 2 play day for that as I'm coming from so far away.

Surprisingly smooth this morning. 401 on one machine, 2007 on the other. Got to the front at 8.43am, was about to go in, but they paused the system. Heartstopper... re-started at 8.45am, straight through, John, McB and Hell booked in a few minutes, no problems at all. Looks like they may have fixed it. Oh, and you do have to log in before joining the line, not after, as the email they sent round yesterday stated. And you can log into your account twice on two different machines - but remember you have to log out on both twice too. Also, noticed at 9.45am, there was no longer any queue. I definitely logged in after I got through the queue and all went well for me. Maybe it doesn't actually matter which way around you do it?

Next time I will just wait until 10am. I got in the queue got my tickets but there is a risk they've charged me twice. I will deal with that once my credit card settles.

I totally forgot at 8.30, so booked for Macbeth, John & Absolute Hell just after 1.
Were there any decent pit seats for John at £15? I settled for side balcony as that's all i could get at that time... managed to get good seats for Macbeth still, though i am waiting til the last week of the run now...

I thought it so lacklustre a season that even when I did have time this afternoon, I didn't look.

Maybe it doesn't actually matter which way around you do it? It made me log in before I could enter the waiting room at 8.25am that then went on to join the queue at 8.30am when booking opened. Rather odd - I was on two devices and it didn't make me log in on either.

I've only just caught up with the NT's update re members' online booking but I don't think anyone has posted this (apols if someone has):
"Please note: in a change to previous booking periods, you should log in to the website after passing through the online queue. This is to help ensure the stability of the platform by further regulating traffic."
Until the membership department told me where the update was, I hadn't even noticed it, as they'd previously sent at least 2 emails since June, apologising for the issues, but these had been specifically about online booking problems. As they'd said a further update would follow but I'd seen no email about it, I assumed they hadn't sent one. Little did I know that the info was hidden behind a link lower down in a more recent email as I didn't bother to read that far - I just looked at the booking time/date (hopeless as usual) and decided that, as I didn't want to rush to book anything anyway, I could forget it.
So had I tried to book, I'd have logged on in advance as usual, i.e. before 8.30 am, thereby possibly reducing my prospects of success.
