Tracie Bennett was fabulous as Garland, but less so I thought in Mrs Henderson - but then I did think she was miscast. Wasn't Janie Dee due to do it originally?

I wish Hollywood would hurry up and get the finger out and put 'Follies' onto screen before we lose any more legends. Debbie Reynolds would have been perfect for 'The Mirror Song'. Along side that appearances from Liza Minnelli (I'm Still Here), Angela Lansbury (Broadway Baby), Julie Andrews & Dick Van Dyke (Rain On The Roof). Put Meryl and Barbra/Glenn in as Sally and Phyllis.

Give it twenty years or so and they'll probably be able to resurrect any actor, building a model of them, animating them via motion capture, reproducing their voices etc. Then you could get a version with Kelly, Astaire, Merman etc.

I just came across this and think its good and in character. A Julie Andrews soprano voice wouldn't be right for Mrs Henderson. I recall Judy Dench singing Bring In The Clowns, now she can't sing but got rave reviews.

If she sang "Bring In the Clowns" no wonder Sondheim wanted the cast recording deleted.

Urgh I never want to see Tracie Bennett after her excruciating performance in Mrs H. I hope she's off the night I see Follies.

Ms Barstow sang the same role in a semi staged, one off, "star studded", performance at the Palladium about 10 years ago.

when is this and pinnochio on sale? I couldn't seem to find mention of on sale dates which seemed a bit odd Follies isn't until August, so probably won't be on-sale until April. Pinocchio is probably September.

Do we think both Follies and Pinocchio will be on in early December? How long are the runs usually?

According to Whatsonstage first night will be October 24th. However it's unclear as to whether that's the first preview or opening night.

Chatting to the NT box office today, booking expected to open at the end of next month, apparently. Surely that would only be as a one off similar to AiA? The current booklet goes to July and i wouldnt have thought another was due til May but lets see.
