After their mutual agent's recent confusion, perhaps Tom Hollander might also get some work in this to make up for his financial disappointment? Friar Lawrence would suit him well.

Are there no other employable directors out there? This is a Jamie Lloyd Company production ? It’s open to all the other directors out there to set up their own production companies, recruit big name stars, and book West End theatres, and then direct the plays themselves. But hardly any of them can, they have to wait to be employed by other people who’ve done all those things. I'm sure it helped that, until a few days ago, Jamie Lloyd was employed by ATG, the multi-national theatre owner and producer.

Good for Tom. Excited for him, but I hope the stage door afterwards doesn't turn into a Cumberbatch at the Barbican situation 😅 They'll have to close off St Martin's Lane every night!

Doesn't Tom Holland have a reputation for plot spoilers with his films and gets told off for it. So I wonder if there will be an interview embargo so that he doesn't give away too much of the storyline?

All very well, but also announced today is that Les Dennis is doing Twelfth Night. Plus Les Dennis’ stage credits are far more extensive and impressive than Tom Holland’s. I didn’t think the RSC made best use of LD when he was there fairly recently.

Potentially a stupid question - do we think this will be Shakespearean language or a modern day text?

As long as there are no gas masks like Macbeth I’d like to see it.

Potentially a stupid question - do we think this will be Shakespearean language or a modern day text? That's not a stupid question! I mean, I expect it'll be the classic Shakespeare text, but I guess when Shakespeare is public domain and you can do anything with it... who knows?

The website says it’s “…Lloyd’s pulsating new vision of Shakespeare’s immortal tale…” So there’s a LOT of room for speculation based just on that.

I’ve kinda had my fill of Jamie Lloyd, but he does have an annoying habit of casting actors I’d really like to see.
But as ever, goes on sale when I’m in work, so will probably miss out.

The Whatsonstage article says: “The play features text editing by Nima Taleghani…” Recognised the name, but couldn’t place it. He was in Cyrano and is the moody teacher in Heartstopper.

Big concern, of course, is how to prevent Tom Holland from climbing up to the balcony ..

Barefoot. T-shirts. Lots of people lining up. No set. No thanks. Lloyd spends the budget of shoes on chairs. He's into being resourceful and saving the earth.

The Jamie Lloyd Company also continues its commitment to accessibility, offering 10,000 tickets priced at £25 and under, with 5,000 of these exclusively for under 30s, key workers and those receiving government benefits" I love that they do this! Does anyone know if you are able to book an under 30 and an adult ticket alongside each other or are they not set up like that?

Only the the person booking needs to be under 30, key worker or receiving government benefits. The companion doesn't need to fall in any of those categories. At least that's how it has been in past productions.

This is probably the biggest name the west end has had in quite a while, especially one with such a hard-core fan base

Is Tom Holland that big of a draw? I’m personally not a fan and find him way over rated as an actor. I’ll be booking regardless since I will see anything from the JLC but not fussed about Tom at all.

Tom is a massive star, not only does he have the superhero crowd, but he has a big following amonst young girls (and guys). Fan fiction/art etc. His younger fans especially are fiercely loyal to him (and zendaya) It depends on pricing, but from memory Plaza Suite sold out quickly except the top tier seats, I'd expect the same for this at least.

As per usual with Jamie Lloyd's productions, R&J is offering 10,000 tickets priced at £25 and under, with 5,000 specifically for under 30s, key workers, and government benefit recipients. Although it's unclear when they go on sale
