Just a quick one if there are any fans of Call My Agent! out there (the original French one) who are going to be in Paris between now and the end of December…
Ophelia Kolb, who played Colette - the uptight tax auditor who gets together with Andrea - in Call My Agent!, is currently starring in a one-woman play adapted from the Stefan Zweig 1920s short story Letter from an Unknown Woman, which was also made into a film in the late 1940s starring Joan Fontaine.
It’s on at the Studio des Champs-Elysees until the end of December. I caught it when I was in Paris just over a week ago, and it was the highlight of my trip. I read the story in the park just before I went in, and that familiarity with it meant that even with my very basic French, it made for a powerful bit of theatre. Ophelia Kolb really is something special in this. The theatre is a really funny little place in a road full of designer shops off the Champs-Elysees.
I got a reduced price ticket from the FNAC website - I’m guessing there are probably deals around if you look…
