A one off, never to be repeated. Finally released from the hell of Parkinson's disease. Hero.

He appeared on Broadway in the musical Buck White in 1969. There's a clip from an Ed Sullivan show out there.
A sporting legend and civil rights hero, sadly missed.

I have to admit that I thought he'd already passed away some time ago. :-(
I could never have been considered anywhere near a fan of the man or his sport but I do appreciate and understand his legendary status which will no doubt continue.

It was very sad that in the last five to ten years of his life he was carted out for all these events, ie Olympics. You could see he didn't even know where he was, they should have just let the great man be.
One of his quotes I really like is, "I'm so fast, I could turn the light out in my hotel room and be in bed before it's dark".
