In an effort to economize, I'm no longer going out to eat before going to the theater. But after a show, I'm usually not ready to go home, and want to go somewhere for some dessert (or a small savoury) and a glass of wine. But I'm finding lots of restaurants, while they might say they're open until 11 pm or later, close their kitchens at 10 pm (or even earlier).
I'm an older female and just looking for somewhere to wind down by myself in a somewhat quiet (or at least not rowdy) setting. A nice, small hotel bar is generally the ticket, but the late hour seems to be a problem. I know about Brasserie Zedel, but on my last visit they closed the kitchen at 10. And at Covent Garden I know Balthazar serves food until 11 or 11:30. The Ivy is open until 11:30 (I think), but I'm not sure if the kitchen stays open that late.
Any suggestions, in the Leicester Square/Covent Garden area or the Trafalgar Square area?
Thanks in advance!

Zedel closing at 10 must have been an aberration, maybe it was a Sunday or in the immediately post-Covid days? I've eaten there later, and I'm booked at 10.45 later this week after Mockingbird. My late spots tend to be there and the Delaunay at the Aldwych, which is also back to 10.45 last orders during the week. I've gone in there and just had a cake from their Counter, or a three course meal at that time, and I've been fine.
I'm always a post-theatre diner, I get too sleepy if I eat beforehand and I'm lucky in that I don't have to make an early start. I do envy NYC for its late dining options.

The Wolsely on Piccadilly used to open late as I've been there to eat after shows but don't know if this is still the case. Also similar with Joe Allen's.

Zedel closing at 10 must have been an aberration, maybe it was a Sunday or in the immediately post-Covid days? Thanks, I thought it was odd, too. But mystery solved... they close at 10 pm on Sundays and Mondays (I hadn't remembered it was a Monday). The Wolsely on Piccadilly used to open late as I've been there to eat after shows but don't know if this is still the case. Also similar with Joe Allen's. Thanks, I'll check these out.

I usually go to the nearest chippy!
(If they stock Vimto that’s a bonus)

Greasy McDonalds or Burger King from Victoria station, with a cold lager or two from M&S, consumed on the train home with the absolute nutcases. Short of Southern running later trains, that is my only option. The lager helps.

Yep. Since they closed both ‘Stockpot’s I’m afraid its fast food only these days for me & my meagre wallet.

Zedel does two courses for £13. It's not exactly the Ritz...
