Reports from the states seem the have a cool response from critics but some great reviews from actual moviegoers. Sounds familiar.
Thinks it opens Friday in UK but as a first I had zavvi email with the Blu-ray for sale and saying released 31st December. Normally while the film maybe on presale before they see how it does box office before confirming release date.
With no time to die out December 20th Its giving the option of just waiting weeks before seeing the latest film in the comfort of home rather than go to the cinema and as the main multi Plex for me is by a shopping centre so is going to be choked with traffic until new year I will pick up the discs (still prefer a disc to a stream thank you)
I know the big screen experience is wonderful and would rather see a film there but with current issues making it not quite the thing it was these super early releases are not going to help restore movie going.
Think for me next year it will be theatre live links or the new Downton movie in March .

I saw this on Sunday and thought it was OK but it was far too long and took an awfully long time to get going, too much character building of people that weren’t particularly interesting and I didn’t find particularly funny or frightening.
The opening titles have a credit saying produced by ‘Ghost Corps’ so I don’t know if this planned to get a Ghostbusters franchise up and running again (I won’t spoil the plot or who is actually in it but if you sit right until the end of the closing credits there’s a brief scene that says maybe thats what they are intending) but I think the nostalgia thing, on my part anyway has been exhausted by this: I have never been a major Ghostbusters fan, having seen it maybe 3 or 4 times since it was originally released but I have seen some people really tear into this in other online forums and I don’t know why: like the same kind of people that tore apart The Phantom Menace when it came out, can’t they realise they were children when the originals were released, what kind of sad lives have they led fixating on something they watched as a child, waiting decades for a follow up only to find out the people making the new films don’t have the same sad sack fanboy (lack of) imagination that they have?

I agree it took an age to get going - and it never really got overly exciting. I think there will be intentions for another one otherwise why spend so much time setting up the new characters for one film? Not as good as the originals but still worth a watch.
