Marital comedy coming to Bath, presumably on tour elsewhere. I was fascinated to to be unable to find the name of the author anywhere on the site - very odd for a play. Googled it and found it was Gerald Sibleyras who wrote a play, Heroes, translated by Tom Stoppard which was in the West End a few years back with a cop-notch cast including John Hurt, but sounded like a damp squib. I was intrigued to see that in the original UK production of this at the Yvonne Arnaud theatre the lead man was played by Mel Smith who also did the adaptation.

I believe Mel Smith was in it with Belinda Lang who's adapting and directing this production. I read Heroes last year - enjoyable

Absolutely loved this today..97 minutes (no interval) of sheer traditional comedic delight.. Griff and Janie clearly having a ball..both in fine form... Really nice set too. Wouldnt be surprised if this transfered into the west end..somewhere like the Wyndham's maybe..
10/10

I saw this yesterday and very much enjoyed it. {Spoiler - click to view} Sat on the front row and got splashed with some of the wine and had a plate fly over us too
I wasn't sure how it would be given the reviews have been a bit mixed but I was laughing out loud throughout. The script is very alive and both Janie and Griff are on fire in their roles. It's a fantastic two-hander and I really love how much is covered throughout the 95mins. The energy is really infectious and you leave with a huge smile on your face. I wish I knew about Theatre Royal, Bath earlier - the auditorium is gorgeous too and the programming looks great as well.
