Henry is still the best Shylock in my opinion, and he gave a brilliant Tevye in the 2007 revival of Fiddler... He won an Olivier for his role in Assassins, but he was dreadfully miscast in The Producers, and I believe he was fired early in the run, and it was all very public - I think Nathan Lane came over to replace him for the London run, and won the Olivier that year.

That was Richard Dreyfuss, wasn't it? These are two different stories conflated. Henry Goodman replaced Nathan Lane on Broadway, but the producers didn't like him and replaced him with Brad Oscar, who was playing the Nazi in the OBC. Richard Dreyfuss got injured/fired before the original London production opened and Lane was brought over to reprise the role he created on Broaway.
