Little theatre reference I've just noticed. Episode 5 has a short bit filmed inside Wiltons Music Hall. The bit where Eloise goes to the feminist meeting in Bloomsbury?

I just loved this series. I liked the last one too but found the story maybe harder to actually get involved in and the brothers all looked the same and I never knew who was who. And parts of the story I found odd. Anyway I love this series. The leads are so much better and worked brilliantly together and I just loved loved loved the Bridgerton family. Pure joy. I also like how it dealt with quite seties emotional, issues seriously unlike last time. Ant and Kat are both emotionally damaged from too much responsibility too young and the ineffectiveness of their mothers due to trauma. Production values are inszne. Looks gorgeous, music amazing, acting great and the story whipped up into a well sold package. I mean no sex was actually needed this series at all. Which said it all.

A point that the original books mention frequently is that the brothers are supposed to look really alike. So if you've been getting confused between them, then this is a deliberate Thing, and shows that excellent casting has happened!
I devoured this when it came out last week, and loved that they pastiched the Duke licking the spoon from S1 quite aggressively within the first 15 minutes, whilst the Viscount was interviewing potential brides.
This season worked better for me - they've plainly felt secure enough to change the stuff from the books that didn't quite work. The Duke and I (the book S1 was based on) was Julia Quinn's first novel, published some twenty years ago, and the novels get progressively better written as she obviously develops as an author. S2 is based on The Viscount Who Loved Me, and I felt that they'd maintained the vibe of the book, and some of the specific scenes, but had changed just enough that, as a reader of the books, you didn't quite know everything that was going to happen, and could therefore still be surprised.

The kid who plays the youngest brother made me smile. He appears in lots of scenes but doesn’t really have a line until the last couple of episodes, but even when he was “background” he was acting his face off. Literally “react react react”. Keep an eye on that one!

Finished the last episode last night and thoroughly enjoyed the series. Not much sex in this series but it totally didn't need it. The costumes and wigs alone make the series worth watching. It's all very light and fluffy which is exactly how it should be.

Anyone watched season 3?
(can’t believe it’s 2 years since we discussed season 2. Where the hell did two years go?)

I'm enjoying it as always. Visually it's beautiful to watch. The scenery and especially the costumes are magnificent. Must have cost millions just for frocks and wigs. Just a lovely bit of gentle entertainment, just what we need now.

A range of Bridgerton crockery is now available in Primark. Perfect for when one has guests coming over for afternoon tea.

I loved it. As already mentioned the costumes and wigs are top notch, as is the glorious score and there’s so much acting talent on display. Really hope it’s not such a long gap after part two to the next season.

I am still enjoying this, but I am being rather distracted by how old the debutantes all look! They are meant to be teenagers but they all seem to be in their late-20s and 30s.
I didn’t notice it so much on S1.

It doesn’t bother me, but that’s the problem with such a lag between filming and release. It’s been five years since the first series was filmed, but only two years in the story. It’ll take them another 10 years at that rate to do all the other Bridgerton kids’ stories, and since it’s Netflix I don’t fancy their chances of keeping going that long.

Just a lovely bit of gentle entertainment, just what we need now. I completely agree. The costumes are just stunning - they've gathered such a talented team together. I've also enjoyed the more gentle angst of the friends to lovers plot, although the air balloon scene did make me giggle as it was a bit silly. I'm looking forward to part two.

Just finished the second half of season 3.
Very soapy but oh so beautifully done.
The one thing they should stop doing is the very obvious CGI aerial shots of the cityscape. They have enough beautiful real architecture to use rather than creating fake stuff.
They are going to need some new cast for S4 if it happens as we can't rely on those used thus far to fill out the storylines.

I was sad that Penelope got such an angsty wedding day and not a gloriously happy one. But still enjoyed the latest episodes overall.

I got confused why Benedict was saying he wasn't an artist unless he feels lost and that will be his arc in the next season. I haven't read the books - I'm just enjoying the gentle drama of it all.
