Ruthie Henshall will be touring in Salford Quays (the Lowry), Leicester (Curve), London (Cadogan Hall) and Dublin (The Helix) in April 2020. Apparently this is the same tour she took around Australia in Summer this year. Might give this a go as Ruthie was a huge part of the start of my love of theatre.

I have enjoyed Ruthie in several things. Her voice is not what it was unfortunately, but she still sings the ‘lighter’ songs well. Her belting is much less forceful than in her younger days. If she picks songs that suit her voice as it is now, it should be an enjoyable concert.

Agree that something has definitely happened to her voice. Her storytelling is so amazing though, I hope she chooses the repertoire well and it's an great evening.

Does this mean that London production of Next to Normal with her that apparently the authors were holding out for is finally off the cards? Devastating. But on the flip side perhaps they can start thinking about a new Diana now...

But on the flip side perhaps they can start thinking about a new Diana now... I would have loved Next to Normal with Ruthie. Her voice used to be glorious. I still regularly listen to her early albums/cast recordings. (Off-topic: I vote Linzi Hateley as Diana then)

I see BBC News has announced one member of the original cast (name not given) has Cvoid-19, so that might explain it.

Possibly still going to be a late addition as Russell Watson was mentioned too, maybe they're going in together

Yes Ruthie and Russell going in tomorrow and will be on Wednesday night's show doing a task. Will be interesting to see how they fare. Don't usually watch I'm a celeb but thought would give it a go with it being a bi different this year and also it is TV without having to concentrate!

Twitter was alight with ‘never heard of her’ comments.. kind of depressing that just because the 13 year olds have never heard of her, somehow she is a nobody.

That is social media for you I'm afraid. ...whereas on this board users tend to moan about not knowing who the younger people are...!

Are Twitter users also asking who Russell Watson is? As if they have not heard of Ruthie I doubt they will not know who Russell Is either.

Yes they are. Also seen a bunch of people comment on how few twitter followers she has which must mean she's not famous. She joined Twitter 3 days ago. To be honest, I'm surprised she's in as even though I obviously know of her, I wouldn't consider her to be famous. But then I've never heard of some of the others.
Anyway, I've seen some of the gossip pages already writing up about her revelations this evening!

Last night Ruthie mentioned being asked to do “A Star Is Born”. Was this supposed to be a stage adaptation of the Judy Garland version? Why didn’t it happen?

Last night Ruthie mentioned being asked to do “A Star Is Born”. Was this supposed to be a stage adaptation of the Judy Garland version? Why didn’t it happen? Yes it was. It was workshopped and even fully designed and then never happened. A real shame, would have loved to see Ruthie do this back when she had her voice.
