Touring the U.K. in March of this year : as far as I’m aware, the first ‘proper’ comedy shows Steve Martin has done in the U.K. in donkeys years, if ever (he did a banjo recital/show at the RFH 4 or 5 years ago but that was advertised as a serious performance rather than a laff-fest) He hasn’t done much of note in recent years but Steve Martin was a comedy God between the late 70s and mid 90s and was one of my favourite movie stars when I was a lot younger: I’m going to the Royal Albert Hall show, anyone else planning on checking them out?

I... I don't think a successful bluegrass career (five studio albums, regular tours, a live album, at least two Grammy awards), composing a Broadway musical and writing a Broadway play count as "much of note" somehow.........

True, but he hasn’t made any more Pink Panther films or anything with Eugene Levy...😝

Ooh, interesting, I saw the Hammersmith show a few years back and thought then he was looking a bit as if big shows were getting too much for him. Maybe he was just tired after a long tour or something...
I enjoyed his films too but from what I’ve seen of his comedy (I was just a baby back then!) it may not be my cup of tea. I’ll investigate but may just stick with his books (which I generally love).

At £121 a ticket they can sod all the way off. And it pains me to say that, Martin Short's s Jiminy Glick is one of the funniest characters ever but given that I'm sure it'll be recorded I'm not too worried.

I watched it last year and found it okay but not the brilliance I would expect from these two. Martin Short makes me cry with laughter in some of his roles. And for £121 I'm with talkingheads in the sodding off fraternity

My ticket finally arrived this morning - seeing the price I paid on the ticket, I now understand why I haven’t been keen to book any more shows since the start of this thread...
