With The Caretaker only a month to run, then Jekyll and Hyde bizarrely only running a week, then the big summer musical Groundhog Day finishing mid September, then Matthew Warchus first season is done.
i reckon in the next couple of weeks, the Old Vic and Matthew Warchus, will announce their new season, so wonder what will be in it? I would like something like Shakespeare's Tempest and something by Neil Simon, as London hasn't had a play by Neil Simon for ages. I would assume they will keep to the same Prosenium arch format for the next season.
However I doubt there will be a new musical, but wouldn't rule out a revival one done by the Old Vic or an export like they did with Kiss Me, Kate from Chichester, maybe they could bring in Mack and Mabel with Michael Ball? Just hope they don't do a pantomime again?
i would assume in the third season they go back to, in the round format and depending how well the inaugural season and the second season is and if it is judged to be poor, I reckon there will be a revival of Alan Ackybourn's The Norman Conquests.
The only thing certain about this thread is that I am purely speculating.

When Warchus' first season was announced, it was also mentioned that future productions (which could mean next season or five seasons from now) we can expect are...
- The 50th anniversary production of Rosencrantz and Guilderstern Are Dead, which must be next year in 2017 as the play premiered in 1967. - A revival of Art - An adaptation of Ingmar Bergman's film Fanny and Alexander - Dennis Kelly's adaption of Sophocles’ Theban trilogy (Oedipus Rex, Oedipus at Colonus, Antigone) - David Nicholls' adaptation of Penelope Fitzgerald's At Freddie's - New commissions from Richard Bean, Diana Nneka Atuona and Mark Watson.
And part of the new musicals commissioning program with Scott Rudin and Sonia Friedman...
- Pride to be directed by Warchus again. - Dennis The Menace with book and lyrics by Caroline Bird.
Pantomime would be extremely unlikely I imagine, considering it is returning to the Palladium this year. Maybe there will be more family-friendly productions like last Christmas, The Lorax. I imagine if it won't be in the summer, Dennis The Menace would be an example, however I'd be surprised if it was ready for THIS Christmas and they announce other creatives soon.

Let's not forget the Glenda Jackson King Lear, all but confirmed to be coming this autumn.

I think 'Art' is this Autumn according to David Pugh's Twitter.

Would absolutely love to see Ros & Guil with any casting! Never had a chance to see it on stage, but positively adore the play itself & film with Oldman/Roth, one of my faves )

Whoops forgot about king Lear with Glenda Jackson, so this Autumn we are going to get a double Lear with the RSC at Barbican
Great to see that Art is coming back to London at last, I've never seen it, this play must be in top 100 lost of all time greats.
The Old Vic seems to be doing short runs with star names, to attract a very high yield per seat?
