Barry Humphries has announced that Dame Edna will return to the stage later in 2019, with dates booked in Australia and the United States. I hope some UK dates will follow. I wonder if his interview with Rob Bryden at the Palladium on April 28th will be similar to his Australian tour last year ?

Would be great if he did some UK dates especially as it looked as if he had retired the character from live work. Barry is 85 now, so any chance to see him live should be taken.

Wonder if he is still pro-Brexit?

Wonder if he is still pro-Brexit? Not sure why that should matter?

I agree, in my opinion he’s a genius live. I first saw him on stage at the Leeds Grand Theatre in 1980 and have seen all his shows since then , some several times . Totally unique . He’s bound to turn up in the UK .

Oh I thought the last one at been the last one. Welcome news if it happens here. It was indeed Barry Humphries’ farewell tour , but obviously he can’t keep the Dame in check . I also welcome his return to the UK stage when/if it happens . All those years back my dear, late brother was so delighted with Mr Humphries’ performance that he wrote to him and received a lovely handwritten letter and a signed programme in return . I still have both . Happy memories!

Wonder if he is still pro-Brexit? Not sure why that should matter? a) because I'm interested b) Dame Edna is a vehicle for satire and I imagine she will have something amusing to say on the subject Is that permitted?

Not sure why that should matter? a) because I'm interested b) Dame Edna is a vehicle for satire and I imagine she will have something amusing to say on the subject Is that permitted? No need at all for the prickly response and the “is that permitted” horton . I was just enquiring, not trying to be confrontational or critical, just trying to have a chat about a theatrical performer who I admire , and do a bit of reminiscing with like minded people. Unlike some on this board I really don’t have a condescending or confrontational attitude and the thought of attracting responses like yours really makes me think twice before posting anything , or even staying on this board .

OK- but your chat was a little abrupt, n'est-ce pas? Not at all, I merely asked a civil question. Brief, but not abrupt . What else was there to say? I don’t wish to engage with this type of discussion any longer if you don’t mind.

Tbh his naked transphobia is way more disturbing than his attitude towards Europe may or may not be.
