I really enjoyed listening to him on Radio 4's The News Quiz and on Sorry I haven't a clue. British comedy will be the poorer without his wit. RIP Jeremy.

I saw him live at the Lemon Tree back in either late '93 or early '94.
Time has erased the memory of who the other half of the comedy bill was.

One Sunday afternoon some years ago, I was home alone doing the ironing and listening to I'm Sorry I Haven't A Clue. The round was 'Pick up Song' and it was Jeremy Hardy's turn. The song was 'A Little Help From My Friends'. It started - Jeremy 'sang' the first two lines as only he could and I burst out laughing. I knew what was coming next and when he got to the fourth line I was helpless with laughter, so much so I had to put the iron down because I could barely breathe. It's a comedy gold moment I've never forgotten. We saw him several times both at recordings of ISIHAC and on stage. He was always brilliant.  |

Horrible news - he once made me a pancake at a Brixton party while I enthused to him about the News Quiz. It wasn't a great pancake but it was lovely to meet him.

The "Pick Up Song" part of ISIHAC is one of the best parts of the programme in my opinion, particularly when Jeremy was on the panel. you just knew that whatever song he was given, he'd be comedy gold as you say for those few minutes due to his inability to sing. Thank goodness for You Tube, we can still have the ability to hear Jeremy's singing for years to come. |

I only saw him perform a couple of times over the years, last time at the Amersham Arms in New Cross a couple of years back but I thought he was great, not the sort of act to headline a fortnight at the O2 (though I don't think that was the sort of thing he'd ever want to be doing), and one of the few comedians I've seen that could do political material without it seeming like they were hectoring the audience and actually being funny.
I don't do Twitter, and don't listen to much radio, so didn't know what he had been up to recently, so didn't know he was ill: this was a real shock when I heard about it this morning.
R.I.P. Jeremy, in a world of mostly bland comedians, you really will be missed.

This is such sad news. Jeremy Hardy was a brilliant wit, genuinely funny. As I drove home this evening , I listened to Barry Cryer and others paying tribute on PM. They played a piece from I’m Sorry I Haven’t A Clue .... Jeremy Hardy singing Leonard Cohen’s Hallelujah in the style of George Formby’s When I’m cleaning windows .... I was laughing out loud . Pure genius ! Thank you Jeremy .
