My local venue has just announced a touring production called Golden Girls, featuring Maria Friedman, Bonnie Langford and Lesley Garrett. Apparently they are making an album together too. Not a mix I was expecting, but I guess it's a similar idea to Leading Ladies?

If they'd got Jenna Russell instead of Lesley Garrett it would be an Eastenders triple

Which one is Blanch?
Is this serious or a wind up?
If it's serious it could be fun and I'd definately give it a go. Guess it's not until next year as Bonnie will be toe tapping until Jan

Not the most glam title for a show. Makes them sound like pensioners.

Westend Wilma has a track list, seems like quite a range.

Once you get past the cringey title, my first reaction is why would you put those voices together? I've enjoyed performances by all three at various times, but if I was looking to blend three great singers with contrasting but complimentary voices none of them would be on my list and certainly not together. And some of the chosen songs are odd to say the least. Still, they might manage to win me over.....maybe.

This appears to be cancelled at many of the venues now (and on Ticketmaster) - anyone know what’s going on? Was so looking forward to seeing Maria and Bonnie!

A statement on the De Montfort Hall page for the event: It didn’t ping my interest but still a shame that it’s all cancelled including the album.

Such a shame that it I all cancelled. Judging by a look at Birmingham which is still on sale, hardly any tickets have been sold.

Does anyone know why the album release was cancelled? It all seems a bit strange as just a few days prior to the cancellation announcement, the Golden Girls Twitter page posted photos from the music video shoot. Maria Friedman also tweeted saying how happy she was with the recording. The statement also doesn't suggest a postponement for the album release and seems very final.
Just curious, if the album was completed and a music video shot, then why at the eleventh hour (just over a month before the release date), has it all been cancelled?
