Show Report: Running time: One hour twenty, no interval Programme: free cast list with bios (hurrah), full playtext available for (I think) £5 Nudity: None. Profanity: A bit. Dogs: In show, none BUT Paul O'Grady was giving a talk and signing books elsewhere in the theatre and I got to pet his beautiful little dog and O'Grady himself said 'Hi ya' to me. Highlight for me. Refreshments: I ordered a small white wine upstairs but was poured a large one so win-win there, but I missed the cocktail bar that had been downstairs for the past couple of shows. Maybe they couldn't think of anything appropriately themed for this show. FOH: Very cheerful and helpful. What's It All About: A young married couple argue - the argument then spreads to have an effect on their relationships with their friends and family (poster image of fire so I guess it spreads like wild fire?). My two favourite scenes were the showdown between the young man (Oliver Dimsdale) and his father-in-law (Michael Simkins) and the scene between the two best friends (Rebecca Humphries, who was also good in Temple) and Ryan Early. It's a very spare piece, mainly a series of duologues on a bare carpeted stage, that becomes more and more cluttered with wine glasses, bottles, champagne, etc. Recommendation: Some insightful moments, but ultimately unsatisfying.

I thought this was OK and well acted, but almost immediately forgettable and none of the characters was at all likeable - though perhaps that was deliberate.
Of particular appeal was the scene where the male best friend takes the female best friend to task for her irritating "up-talk", as this infuriates me, too, in everyday life, and the audience clearly appreciated the dig.

Have to agree with foxa - Saw this last night and whilst it was undeniably well acted, all of the characters irritated me intensely so it was hard to find any empathy with them. Generally unsatisfying and forgettable.

It wasn't bad. Sharp dialogue, interesting premise and decently acted. I expected something a bit more ambitious from Mr Boyd, perhaps he was testing the waters.
