Hi all,
Sorry if there is already a thread on this just need some help for today. I have friends who would be interested in going to the theatre tonight - I've had a quick look online but haven't seen any good priced tickets.
I was thinking about going to one of these ticket booths this afternoon instead but I have never used them before. Are there any that are better than others? Recommendations? We're just looking for something last minute and relatively cheap but it's probably a bit of a long shot.
Ideal shows would be Dreamgirls, Aladdin or Kinky Boots...

Download on your smart phone the todaytix app, there you can enter the lottery for Dreamgirls and Kinky Boots for £20 about, being first time you have a good chance of winning. They will let you know if you won by 3.30 if you haven’t you can rock up at the TKTs booth Leicester Square and buy a ticket for Kinky Boots.

TKTS booth on leicester is probably the best. All the rest are resellers with their extra on and generally poor seats (in my experience). TodayTix app would be preferable over TKTS but best option really is get to the theatre in person.

Thanks both! Only problem with these lotteries is there are 3 of us and it looks like it's only 2 tickets per winner. TKTS sounds like a good option!

There are genuine and "avoid at all costs" booths throughout London. Look for the STAR logo star.org.uk first, and ALWAYS demand to be told the "face value" of the ticket and be shown the location of the seat on a seating plan. You must also be given the ticket - NEVER be asked to just collect at the theatre box office. STAR rules demand it. The genuine ones are those managed by Encore, Londontheatrebookings and Leicester Square Box Office. I do have a "Ticket Trail" with photos of some of them on my site. By the afternoon, you can expect to find some good discounts on unsold seats, particularly for weekends where the agents can't return tickets they have bought. TKTS, though, is always a safe bet, too. Thanks all for your responses! This is really informative, thanks Theatremonkey. I should have thought to check your website but I didn't have much time online while trying to get something sorted. We did get tickets for Kinky Boots in the end and my friends loved it. I have a few things for the Bad Behaviour thread though - one guy in the row in row infront but a few seats to the left opened up his phone in the second act and was texting for about 5 minutes. Very distracting and the ushers didn't do anything about it even though it lighting up his whole face!

being first time you have a good chance of winning. Sorry I just wanted to check on what this means? Surely every time you enter you have the same probability of winning? Unless the lottery is fixed somehow?
