Hello everyone!
I'm planning a trip to Glasgow on January 5-8 and I was wondering if there are any shows I could see there. I tried googling, but only managed to find panto. Is there anything on in the first days of January that could be of interest to a foreigner? Or may be in Edinburgh? General Glasgow advice would also be appreciated.
Thanks in advance!

Ahhh Scotland. Lovely place for a lot of things, not so great for theatre. There's a reason I didn't hang around after school.
There's not a wealth of theatres in Scotland and you are in the prime season for making a lot of money with pantomime, so yes you're going to struggle.
In Edinburgh Shrek the Musical tour is playing at the Playhouse theatre, I haven't seen the tour but I thought Shrek was actually not as bad as I feared, and there's some good music in it. Arabian Nights seems to be a new production playing at the Lyceum (up till the 6th) which seems to be a family oriented show bringing together lots of those classic stories, does not look like a pantomime so fear not.
In Glasgow all I could easily find was a bit of ballet with The Nutcracker at the Theatre Royal. The Citizens theatre I thought might be a good bet for you but it seems to be dark on those dates.
Not the best time of year to venture outside of the west end looking for serious theatre, if it was a week later it looks like you'd have a very different offering on your hands. But Glasgow is lovely, as is Edinburgh, have a good stalk through TripAdvisor and you'll find plenty to keep you occupied.

I think that Scotland is great for theatre and since moving to London actually miss the Scottish theatrical culture!
Saying that I agree the dates you are going you won't catch anything at the Citz! HOWEVER having worked there I know they do backstage tours and it's a beautiful theatre (my favourite) to see around. Especially haunted too...
