What’s with the huge scaffolding set up outside the Palace Theatre? When it went up I assumed it was a lighting rig for an event, but it’s been there ages now.
It’s really uglying up the area!

Yup, put me down for some wondering too... Had assumed it was ‘an event’ too but thanks for the info, theatremadness. (Now I’m wondering what Nica Burns is actually doing to help the businesses while these works are ongoing .)

Thanks for the info! Just roadworks? Looks like it should have been for something much more interesting. Anyway, I hope it doesn’t last too long - it’s really spoiling that junction.

Given that the road junction outside is on temporary traffic lights, I think part of it is installing a new lights system.
EDIT Oh, and just a minor correction, the truss doesn't have much in the way of lighting. Most of what looks like lights are chain bags and motors for winching stuff in and out of the hole.

It is an absolute nightmare trying to navigate around that side of Cambridge Circus. Being the snowflake that I am, on Thursday I simply couldn't face it and went the long way round.
If any production other than Harry Potter was playing at the Palace, it would surely have closed months ago.
My memory is a bit hazy, but I'm sure there was something in The Stage a couple of years ago about the leak. Westminster Council was insisting that Nimax should pay, and Nimax was insisting that Westminster should.

I do like me a diagonal crossing, especially if they have those countdown timers. The one at Oxford Circus is fab!
