I think the BBC are to be applauded for their season marking 50 years of the 1967 Sexual Offences Act. Whether it is the dramas we have been discussing on other threads or the documentaries like tonight's heart-rending 'Is It Safe to be Gay in the UK?' or the various strands being broadcast on different radio stations, it feels like a very comprehensive look at where we have come from to where we are now and how much further there is yet to travel.
It is very easy to know an institution like the BBC (and I have done so on many occasions in the past) but they can rise to the occasion with a season like this that will have a positive impact on many people.
Bravo BBC - just don't forget these issues going forward. We shouldn't have to wait another 50 years!
