DONT BUY IT!
"The national newspaper advert for campaign group Go Vegan World goes on to state: "I went vegan the day I visited a dairy. The mothers, still bloody from birth, searched and called frantically for their babies. "Their daughters, fresh from their mothers' wombs but separated from them, trembled and cried piteously, drinking milk from rubber teats on the wall instead of their mothers' nurturing bodies. All because humans take their milk."
Hot chocolate anyone?

Ok weird confession....I have a strange obsession with 'Raw Vegans' on Youtube. They're vegans that not only believe in not eating animals but that only uncooked food is really good for you. Confession 2 I often watch them while scarfing down a KitKat.

Look at the ingredients in hot chocolate powder, Options Belgium Chocolate powder for example contains whole and skimmed milk powder. Derivatives of the dairy. The chocolate industry alone is far too reliant on dairy for any change to come about in the industry, then factor in the amount of milk that gets used - and un-used/discarded - in the coffee serving industry. I know people who would read the full article on this, get outraged and pledge to avoid milk forgetting that would include sacrificing their Cadbury's collection. Suddenly the outrage changes and the justifications come out.

As someone who is dairy intolerant (and whose best friend is severely allergic to cow's milk) it's a total 'mare to avoid. I'm lucky that I can get away with some (see above KitKat) and not be actually ill, but to avoid/cut out entirely is a real task.
I'm all for the food we eat being ethical/humane and I wish I could still manage to be a full-time veggie. But I do think that strict veganism is unnecessary, when ethical farming/purchasing is possible.
Also, see above KitKat.

Yeah, avoiding dairy completely is just *hard*!
I'm lucky that I seem to be ok with a little bit of dairy product/by-product on an ingredients list in something, too. Even managed a croissant the other day with no ill-effects. Otherwise you're pretty much stuck with the vegan options when you eat out.

I thought I should try it out because I'm quite happy without meat occasionally but when I was looking at their menu, I couldn't help thinking 'that'd be really nice with some grilled chicken on top.'

I misread the title of this thread, thought it said 'Human milk is a myth' 'I'll get me coat.'

I know that you are all intelligent and well-informed and so already know what I'm about to say.
But I'll say it anyway, since this thread was set up on this specific subject.
In the dairy indutry, most male calves are slaughtered immediately after birth.
So, some consider milk inhumane.

I buy 'free range' milk from Asdas when I can, thought this would take off like free range eggs, but it hasn't and seems very niche.
