Disney's Aladdin remake casts Aladdin, Jasmine + Genie

So people can finally give up the nonsense excuse for Emma Watson's awful casting that these movies 'need' a big name in the title role.

I love that they've gone for two unknowns as Aladdin and Jasmine. She's a singer and hopefully he will do a good job with that too and we wont be subjected to autotune aplenty once more.

Will Smith's casting suggests there are going towards Howard Ashman's vision for the Genie which is what the stage version is based on.

Wonder if Abu will appear or will they replace him with Babkak, Omar and Kaseem?

Will Smith as the Genie is the big name here, his name alone can sell a movie (although hile seems to have mote misses these days). Unlike Beauty and the Beast they also had the ethnicity issue, Hollywood isnt exactly overflowing with A list actors from the Middle East.

Wills casting alongside the choice of director worries me but we will see. Will Smith does the same schick in everything and Guy Ritchie seems to be cursed with movies lately

Well if ever there was a reason to avoid this film, Will Smith is it. A face I would never tire of slapping. He must have some serious dirt on Hollywood bigwigs to have sustained such a career as he has with such a miniscule amount of utterly unlikeable talent.

Guy Ritchie directing, I was hoping for Jason Statham as Genie, never mind...

I've not seen this on stage but it's my understanding that Aladdin's monkey Aboo and Jasmine's tiger that both appeared in the animated feature never made it to stage,

I wonder if both of them, or at least one of them (if at all) will make an appearance in this film?

They will probably CGI them back in ala Jungle Book.
