Jessie Mueller. Very talented, will certainly do a good job. But miscast in my opinion.
Josh Henry though, yaaaas.

Well at least Jessie Mueller can act it...
Certainly more tempting than seeing it here!

Gosh. The artwork makes it look like Rodgers & Hammerstein do the Bayeux Tapestry. Hope no-one gets it in the eye. Betsy Wolfe is in it too. At the Imperial Theatre apparently.

I bought my ticket already. It's going to be a very revival-heavy season with My Fair Lady, Once On This Island, perhaps Dreamgirls and Hello, Dolly still going strong with a good reason to see it again with its new star.
I'm very nervous about Jack O'Brien. He's the epitome of mediocrity with Hairspray being pretty much the height of his recent resume, followed by the misconceived Catch Me If You Can, a WTF version of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, and Love Never Dies which was so misdirected and so unfortunately unattractive it took Bill Kenwrithght, yes, Bill Kenwright, to fix it. So yes, I have my reservations.
And I have no time for an imaginary carousel. I want a full goddamn machine that goes round and round in circles.

Renee Fleming will sing the heck out of You'll Never Walk Alone - but Carousel is still Carousel. It is just so difficult to make the plot palatable for modern audiences.

Funny I've never thought of Nettie as glamorous. Hitchcock used to moan that they'd set up an actress to be a plain Jane and then she'd make friends with the make up ladies and a week later she’d be unrecognisable.
Renee? Plain. Perish the thought.

I may have the wrong slant on this but surely Renée Fleming will look gorgeous as she always does and despite the fact that she is fast approaching 60, doesn't this mean that there will be three female leads in this "Carousel" (Julie, Carrie and Nettie) all looking young and scrumptious? Is that a problem? I guess not!

Betsy Wolfe dropped out of Carousel for scheduling conflicts. And BroadwayWorld Lost. It. And Jesse Tyler Ferguson (Modern Family, Spelling Bee) took it upon himself to do dramatic readings of the very lengthy and dramatic thread on the BroadwayWorld Message Board (that I've been following like crazy too, but not posting like a crazy person). I was cry laughing:

Another Dramatic Reading

It was such a misdirected and lazy attempt to revive the show. Jack O'Brien's solution to revive this relic was to over-stage, over-choreograph it and cut out the problematic parts. At least it gave us a pretty good cast recording with its current stars, though quite a shame it has no reprise of If I Loved You.

But it did give us my favourite version of 'June Is Bustin' Out All Over'. When Renée teases us with a little bit of opera diva towards the end, I was bustin' out all over too!

Annoying - I was hoping to see it in November to make up my own mind as to whether it is as bad as many people seem to think! Oh well, now I have a free slot!

It's just Jigger, not *the* Jigger. Supporting role, probably fair to say he's considered the villain of the piece.
