King Lear is not one of my favourite Shakespeare plays, in fact I really don't like it. But I really loved this particular production in Chichester. Much impressed by McKellan's energy and particularly loved Sinead Cusack as Kent. Unfortunately most of the cast haven't done the transfer. So I decided against to see it at the Duke of Yorks where I would have to forge out so much more money to have a good seat. But I was happy to see it again at the cinema. Although the actors playing Edgar and Edmund in the transfer were really good, I much preferred Jonathan Bailey and Damien Maloney. And I preferred Phil Daniel's fool. Only Claire Price's Goneril wasn't much different to Dervla Kirwan's and I agree with Peggs that I liked that way how she was portrayed. Our cinema was very busy but not sold out as it was in the biggest auditorium. Worst audience of a school class I have ever witnessed, it was a relief that most of the bad behaving students left in the interval.

I saw it this afternoon, and it's the first time I've ever enjoyed King Lear.

Anyone know if they've been selling standing tickets for this? And if so, has it been in advance or on the day?

They've ripped out half of the stalls to fit the catwalk in!

No, not selling any as there isn't any place to stand. They had standing at the back of the upper circle for the Faust production a few years back. Either side of the bench seats.
