I am trying to find out if the theatre company 'Shared experience' are still operating in the UK.

It would appear not. Under their founder Mike Alfreds in the early 1980s they managed to come up with the worst production I've ever seen, quite an achievement. It was a Spanish Golden Age thing called "Comedy Without A Title". Wrong on both counts. I did see other stuff he directed and it was OK.
