There's going to be a statue of Victoria Wood in Bury, I believe; something initiated by her brother, and fans have been asked to vote for a character for it. Bren or Kimberley's friend. Judi Dench has stumped up £1000 towards it by all accounts...
Eric Morecambe's statue has just been unveiled (apparently giving burglars an opportunity to rob his widow's home while she attended the ceremony, I read...)
I've just seen that there's a call to erect one in Southport for Jean Alexander who died earlier this week.
Am I wrong in thinking that these people are too alive in our memories, too good almost to warrant having a statue put up quite so soon? I find them a bit... tacky.

Eric Morecambe is probably about the right amount of time. Although the other two getting them sound fine in a way to me because of who they were. If it was some Z-Lister then I would feel otherwise.
