I went to see this last night. Solid performances (Arinze' Kene has a beautiful singing voice!) and standing ovation at the end. A warning if you are sitting in the front row in the stalls: when you are getting to your front seats, be careful if you walk on the black platform that borders the stage. Yesterday three women fell in succession throwing their drinks all over other audience members.

Is the black platform technically difficult to traverse for people wearing silly footwear?

It always seems to be women falling over at the theatre. Or not turning off their mobile phones ;-)
I saw this play on Saturday night, very good. Great cast.

It always seems to be women falling over at the theatre. Because of their footwear. Or not turning off their mobile phones ;-) Because of their nail extensions.

That, plus the shoes.

Liking the reviews: 4 stars from The Stage; 3 or 4 from Libby Purves (she awards the 4th star for Arinze Kene's singing) and 90-minute running time. And for once I got it right by booking for an evening performance.

The Guardian get it right for once with 4 stars followed by both the Independent and Telegraph with four stars as well.

Yes its fictional but it makes you wonder what might have been said. All leads were commendable with their performances and Arinze Kene singing , well the guy can hold a tune. A thoroughly entertaining piece of theatre I think the critics got it right with this one.

I might have to return one (Front Row, albeit Circle) ticket for this evening as OH is unwell and may not go. Just in case anyone within reach of the theatre wants to keep a lookout on the website or try in person.

Saw this tonight and enjoyed very much, but was sitting way round the edge of the circle so couldn't see the projections very well.
So a query for anyone who has seen the show...
{Spoiler - click to view} What flashed up at the very end - was it a photo of Trump?

Yes, saw it the week before last at the Nottingham Playhouse. Guess what, BurlyBeaR ? That's right, I didn't post at the time. Quelle surprise! In my defence, I really dislike being negative, and I'm afraid this production did little for me. After previews, it was decided to add an interval. There is an appropriate place for one, but it really isn't needed, except to boost bar and ice cream sales. Because of the set, centre is definitely the place to sit for an unrestricted view. {Spoiler - click to view} And those on the front row are serenaded by Mr Henry.

I think you owe me £24...

I knew this would happen! That's why I don't post negative reviews. I'm sure that, knowing how different you and I are, you'll enjoy it much more than I did (if it is a play to be enjoyed).
£24 is a bit steep isn't it? Must be true what they say about people who live in Manchester.

Has been on the radar for a while, I'm going Thursday afternoon.
Anyone whose seen this, is there any/much dark blue/UV lighting on this? (Strange question, I know!)

Anyone whose seen this, is there any/much dark blue/UV lighting on this? The only part of the lighting I can specifically remember is flashing/strobe lighting, but it's been a few weeks now so please don't rely on me 100%.

Has been on the radar for a while, I'm going Thursday afternoon. Anyone whose seen this, is there any/much dark blue/UV lighting on this? (Strange question, I know!) No blue/UV. Well, I know what TallPaul means. It didn’t really go anywhere for me, and I found my mind wandering towards the end of the first half until Matt H did his star turn. If the second act hadn’t been so short I might have bailed at the interval but decided to hunker down and stay, which was the right decision as there was another song and a ‘twist’ of sorts. Those were the highlights for me, the rest was fine and the performances were good but it didn’t really grab me. Having said that I am interested in finding out a bit more about Malcolm X which is presumably what the writer wants people to do. Matt Henry ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Play ⭐️⭐️.5
