We haven't been to New York for a few years (since the time when we saw Natasha, Pierre etc in a tent!) but hope to get to see Bette next year. Quick look shows the Orchestra seats at $189 (a bargain!!!), but plus fees of $60+ buying via Broadway.com.(not a bargain). Anyone got any advice as to the best way (if any) to get regular price tickets without such an exorbitant booking fee? Thanks for any help.(if

I think this should be international - I got front town balcony seat for Better Midler in Hello Dolly for 111 dollars. 82 quid. Considering who we are seeing I don't think it's that bad. There won't be any discounts.

I wasn't expecting discounts!!! Just whether there was a site which didn't have such high fees.

Telecharge would be a better option than Broadway.com. www.telecharge.com/Broadway/Hello/Overview Telecharge are a proper ticket broker, Broadway.com are a rip-off ticket broker (legitimate, but exorbitant fees).

I don't really understand why people don't just go on the show's website and click through to the official ticket provider - if there are no discounts or "no booking fee" offers around it's always the cheapest way...

I wondered the same, so googled 'Hello Dolly Broadway' and the first result was Broadway.com, the second was Telecharge followed by other ticket brokers. I then searched 'Hello Dolly Official Website' and got no official website. I'm going to assume that there isn't an official site for this show and that is why the OP is asking for help. I do think it's poor form not to have one though.

I think in my head I assumed that tickets would be almost impossible to get, so slightly panicked when I first looked for tickets. I'd never used Broadway.com before, but assumed agency charges had just increased appallingly since we'd last been to NY! Meanwhile I'd gone through the Schubert theatre site which got me to Telecharge! Once I realised that the ticket prices they were quoting when I selected a performance were for the two tickets we wanted not per ticket, we got two decent seats, with less scary agency fees.

Last time I went to New York, I was surprised that booking fees were as reasonable as they were, compared with how drastically the ticket prices themselves had increased since my previous trip. Broadway used to be much more on a par with the West End once you took the exchange rate into account, but nowadays, even though we now have ridiculous premium tickets, Broadway is still much more idiotically expensive.

It's because the cost of putting shows on there is double what it is here. Everyone gets paid so much money that it bumps the ticket prices up
