I've been writing this for fun for the last weeks.
I've drawn on 'Lady Day at Emersons Bar & Grill' and set it in the space of a single evening... when she gave her career defining performance in a tiny church in Dingle. This is probably a long shot, but if there are any Amy superfans on here - how would you create a musical out of her life story?
Hope you're all well.

The Manchester Palace and Opera house ran a competition on Facebook last week, asking people for suggestions for new musicals. The person who suggested The Amy Winehouse Story was the winning entry. You might be onto something.

I don't think her story is worthy of a show.

I don't think her story is worthy of a show. It would be impossible to stage. You couldn't do a bio and her songs are too personal to her to make it a jukebox around another story. It's like Kurt Cobain

I don't think her story is worthy of a show. Oh go and fanboy over Viva Forever or something..... Just kidding. I've centred the plot around her fears of becoming famous, her love of jazz (insert generic jazz standards here), and her childhood... Not the generic rock'n'roll tragedy archetype... XXX

It's like Kurt Cobain There was a musical in the works for off-broadway a few years ago but it fell through. I agree it's impossible - but that's what attracted me to it.

Maybe if u did something outside the box like Lazarus?

Her father the taxi driver might be up for something. He seems to like the attention. Write Mitch into the musical?

I've always thought Amy's music would transistion well to the stage, just as i think in about 5/10 years time, a musical with Adele's music will appear.

I'm really not a fan of Mitch. He is truly awful. He has spent her entire fortune in the space of 5 years.

The documentary Amy was a real eye opener and Mitch doesn't come off well at all.
I think it's too soon for any sort of biomusical, it's only been 5 years since her death.
