She was mentioned in a thread a while back and I thank our member alece10 for the tip about her show Liberty which sent me off to watch it on YouTube. Since watching that I’m getting Elaine content pushed into my YT feed. My memory of her as a kid was of a (what I thought) very old fashioned (even then) and unfunny sitcom with Donald Sinden as her butler. I also remember her popping up on tv shows and me being fascinated but thinking “who is this crazy American woman?”. Of course we know her from the iconic Company OBC and that documentary about the recording but does Elaine Stritch get the credit she deserves?

I remember that series it was called Two's Company. I may have made this up but I seem to remember that she lived in a suite at the Savoy when she was over in England making the series. I used to think that was so posh someone actually living in a hotel.

I once saw her present a fashion show at Liberty's - the London store. I was a teenager (obsessed with Liberty silks and soon to become a textiles student) and it was - shall we say - a bewildering performance.

Thanks BurlyBeaR for the heads up about the show being in YouTube. Just watched it and it brought back happy memories of when I went to see it at The Old Vic. Its a tour de force performance isn't it. Her comic timing is incredible. Can't believe she did 2.5 hours every night at her age and felt like she was performing it for the first time. Total legend.
