The new story is that Gypsy will be hitting the Broadway stage in 2018, with Imelda leading once again as Momma Rose, making it a solid decade since the last Revival starring Patti LuPone! Very exciting to hear but very far in advance if it turns out to be true, my guess would be the reported Virginia Woolf will take place somewhere between now and 2018? It will be great to see Imelda do it once more, I would travel over to Broadway just to catch that performance in person once more!

Whoa. What did these poor New Yorkers do for being punished with a Sondheim show?

Well this is (in my opinion, before people yell and throw things!) one of the best musicals of all time! Plus, it gets revived every decade or so on Broadway! 1959 (Merman), 1974 (Lansbury), 1989 (Daly), 2003 (Peters), 2008 (LuPone), 2018 (Staunton)... it just makes sense really!

Whoa. What did these poor New Yorkers do for being punished with a Sondheim show? You don't like Sondheim? Gosh, why didn't you tell us before?? ;-)

I kind of don't see the point in this going to Broadway. Don't get me wrong, it was excellent, as was Imelda, but Broadway has had so many Gypsy revivals and this one has already been filmed.

Hmpf. Was it that obvious? I really need to work on my subtlety then.

Whoa. What did these poor New Yorkers do for being punished with a Sondheim show? Jule Styne. Hate on the lyrics if you must, but don't disparage the score as a whole when Sondheim had comparatively little to do with it.

It hints New York, but I keep hearing it's playing BAM or somewhere like that. Would they really transfer the whole production? Is she big enough to sell it over there?
