So happy and excited, it's finally arriving on Broadway: www.broadwayworld.com/article/New-Musical-THE-OUTSIDERS-To-Open-On-Broadway-This-March-20230821The original novel and the famous Coppola movie version are two of my all-time favourites and unlike so many other things I always thought that The Outsiders would be a good idea for a stage adaptation. While I didn't get to see the La Jolla tryout live, I really enjoyed the music and the video clips I saw of it, including the very impressive rain they arranged for the final rumble. Can't wait to see it live on stage next year!

I thought this one was great! Really good music throughout, and some very impressive visuals - the scene mentioned above with the rain - hugely impressive. I'd not read the book or seen the film so the story was also a nice surprise. Brody Grant was absolutely wonderful as Ponyboy Curtis, and a very strong supporting cast. I think this show could do very well and settle in for a decent run.

Interesting, my least favourite of my NYC trip, it felt like a lacksure ‘West Side Story’, I didn’t find the score very memorable and the characters motivations didn’t make much sense. Don’t get me wrong, the cast are great and it’s a good set and there is some good songs there (‘Stay Gold’) but it didn’t move me or make me feel any compassion to the characters, my two stand-outs were ‘Lempicka’ & ‘The Notebook’, oh and ‘Sweeney Todd’ had to rewatch to see Tevit & Foster in the show!

Album is out now and I’m reminded how lovely the score is. Very much worth a listen.

Saw this on Saturday night and enjoyed it so much! I am not familiar with any of the other material of this property, so this show was my first exposure. I think there are some small points where I thought the book/flow could be tightened but everything else is so good it will propably pass as is. There were one or two cast members who I thought were a bit weak; but I don't know if that was a thing of being tired/vocally worn out after a full week or just a lack of confidence? Brody Grant is a superstar, however, and if this isn't a breakout performance for him, I frankly dont know what could be

The final show of our trip in what turned out to be terrible seats. Most of our view blocked by a giant tyre, which were it just six inches further back, would not be a problem at all. To add insult to injury there was a big wooden box in the middle of my legroom which should have been great in the front row.
However, I liked what I heard and enjoyed lots of the performances. I can see this doing great with the ‘Newsies’ crowd and those of a certain age who grew up with the book. It doesn’t need a big stage so should be able to survive in a playhouse rather than one of the constantly in demand 1400 seaters. Glad that I went, but pleased that we only spent $40 on it.
