That first week after New Years, and Jan/Feb in general is a pretty quiet time for Broadway. Buying in advance online is going to kill you with fees, even with a discount code/sale. Depending on what you want to see, you're much better off doing the on the day rush tickets which many shows offer, or TKTS.

I'll echo what Mark said and add that several shows have scheduled closing dates that fall in the first half of January. If one of those is high on your list, you might check now for what type of advance discounts are available at broadwaybox.com, theatermania.com, or playbill.com.
Also, the Public Theater does its Under the Radar festival in January and often has some offbeat and very interesting productions.

There’s probably very few things you’ll need to book in advance for, for those dates. What were you thinking of seeing?

Cheers There is a Broadway TKTS App you can download now and see what is on sale what days. Matinees are usually put on sale the day before. There are 2 locations in Manhattan. Times Square and Lincoln Centre. Lincoln Centre is FAR less busy and I believe opens much earlier, though sometimes they don't have stuff that T.S will have later in the day, especially plays. Also some things go on sale later in the day to get rid of the last few tickets. Pretty much everything apart from Six and Hamilton have been on it the last few months, so tonnes of bargains to be had. Don't buy in advance it is a complete waste of time, especially atm with sales down so much since Covid x

Check sales for “Beautiful Noise”. Advance sales numbers are very strong for it so it might be wise to get in advance. Other than that, “Funny Girl” definitely in advance.

Both Beautiful Noise and Funny Girl are on TKTS pretty much every day. Funny Girl hasn’t been on since September except for the nights where Lea isn’t performing (thursday)

I've just come back from NY and for Take Me Out, I'd definitely recommend on the day rush. We walked up to the box office at about 2.30pm and got 2nd row side Orchestra seats - Absolute bargain!
