The Spoiler has been updated to say Tony withdrew with a pulled hamstring- not clear if he did the dance-off at all, or stopped in the middle. In either case, he was in the bottom two, so did the Arsenal fans stop voting for him or did the message go out that he'd had enough?!

I dont want him to be in pain. But I also never want to see him 'dance' again.
Either way, the show now refocuses on being more of a dance event

I’ll watch later but a neat get out, the judges don’t have to vote him off, thus avoiding opprobrium. He was given jokey dances and i think that is a shame. I would have liked to have seen him do the classic ballrooms. It would be a shame for the programme to descend into just being about how older guys are good sports..

I do not wish him ill but if we're at the stage of going to Blackpool then only those who deserve to should go.
I don't care how many Arsenal fans are voting for him, he is clearly the weakest performer out there and to me it doesn't seen fair that a better dancer should miss out on Blackpool be cause of him.
Yes, yes, I know t's a popularity contest, but this doesn't invalidate my point.
Even Katya is finding it hard to hide her frustration.

Regardless of what I know from this forum and the 'official' reason, even I could see what bull s**t that was!
As soon as Tess announced it, I couldn't even watch it. I went and put away some folded laundry.

Interesting that the week that Arsenal play an evening match is the week that Tony lands in the bottom two. Maybe his voters had other things to distract them this week?

It does sound a bit dodgy as we all know the results shown is filmed on Saturday after the live show.

I don't buy the explanation of his withdrawal in the slightest.
If you have a serious hamstring injury, you demonstrate just a bit of a limp. Or something.
But there was nothing.
He wanted to leave on his own terms which is understandable but he actually deserved to be properly eliminated for being the worst dancer.
Very glad he has gone.

To be fair, if I remember correctly, it had been discussed on It Takes Two and there were certainly a few moments after their performance yesterday where he seemed to be struggling with/clutching his hamstring.

Big Tone had loads of kicks in this routine and was hopeless at them. If Tony Adams can’t even kick anymore he’s got nothing. Surprised he lasted this long really

Molly and Tyler had to dance off. The judges saved Molly (Craig, Motsi and Shirley saved Molly. Anton saved Tyler). Tyler was eliminated!
I predicted this outcome tonight.
Molly just is not connecting with the voting public.

Ellie's strong voting base has really surprised me. In most years' you can understand why someone is dodging the dance off but it's a bit more unexpected with her.
Tyler hasn't really lived up to his couples choice and wasn't getting significantly better so no major loss.
Feel sorry for Molly but hopefully going in someone warned her young women with stage school backgrounds usually have a tough time on this show.

Yes I think Johannes has a large fan club! He is such a gent and to be fair they deliver a nice dance each time with the comedy numbers better than most. I also predictedMolly being in the dance off because pink and pretty isn't enough, her jive was weak. Seems a nice person though. Tyler’s dance was unexceptional and he hasn’t fulfilled his initial promise. Maybe he has other things to be getting on with.

If Molly was with almost any of the other male pro dancers then I think she would have avoided the dance offs.
Carlos is quite hard to like. You can admire his technical prowess. But he doesn't yet know how to show off his partner rather than showing off how good he is.

People say this every year and there's not the slightest shred of evidence that the pro brings in the votes to any significant extent.
Anton went out early plenty of times, Giovanni went out early this series, Oti with Ugo etc.

Ellie and Johannes seem to be having a lot of fun together which is always appealing, and as a couple they're less cloying than say Kym and Graz (get a room!) or Molly and Carlos (no chemistry). The judges seem to be less forgiving of minor errors than they are with others, so it's unsurprising if the public react against that with more votes.

I don't vote but I like Ellie and I'm a bit mystified why she gets significantly lower marks from the judges than the other celebs. I can see people voting for her for that reason.

Gio went out early because he wasn't invested in the partnership for pretty obvious reasons

Ugo went out after his back problems and his really bad Rumba. Nothing Oti could do would overcome that.

Because she really isn’t on the level of the rest. I’m annoyed that we lost Tyler over her tonight. Mollys days are definitely numbered after being in the dance off for the 4th time, I just think her routines are a tad on the boring side.

Tess' dress was the colour of a hummingbird
(Not that he doesn't deceiver the accolades) but Sam Ryder is a hippie.

So Grandma had to go. Pity. I personally don't understand how Will is still there. The results are sometimes so odd that conspiracy theories are bound to lurk.

Very late this week
Will and Fleur had to dance off. The judges saved Fleur (Anton saved Will. All other Judges saved Fleur). Will was eliminated
I do find this a rather engineered result. Yes, they all are to some extent.
But the critique of Will's paso was harsher than the other two of the night even though the others displayed faults that were not mentioned. Indeed Molly showed zero Spanish flair but that was ignored.
They were just playing into the 'Survivor' narrative.
We have two finalists who have been in the dance off 8 times between them. That is just ludicrous.
Hamza is going to win unless he suffers an injury.
It is time for a big judging shake up. Shirley and Motsi need to be replaced by people who can stay in the seats and judge the dancing not the narrative.
I know it is a popularity contest (which is why being in the bottom two 4 timed should have seen you go home long ago)
But with the lack of critical engagement by half the panel, we are seeing perverse outcomes.
Craig is usually more accurate with his critique. Anton brings the experience of being the longest serving pro. But Shirley and Motsi just bring gush.

Yeah that looked pretty inevitable based on the leaderboard.
This looks like a straight fight between Helen and Hamza right now with the latter in pole position.
The frustrating thing is if the Shirley from last night showed up every week the mark inflation would be less and she'd actually serve a purpose, but after weeks of handing out 10s like sweets it takes either a lot of nerve or a lack of self awareness to suddenly say - I can't just hand out 10s for nothing can I! In her first series it did feel like Shirley wasn't going to be as generous as Len but that stopped quickly apart from the rare week like this one.
No wonder some of them, particularly Will, looked a bit shell shocked to receive criticism from someone other than Craig after weeks of 9s and 10s and you're amazing.
