I see why they've gone with two films for financial reasons, but it's really going to throw off the pacing and drama of the whole show.

Does anyone know if the time clock dragon is included in the movie in any way? in all seriousness, I’d love to see it integrated maybe in NOMTW. My fantasy is that we’ll see a mini replica of the stage show’s set in the film. Linking to the prophetic pageant wagon theatre in the book. Close-up shot onto it, the curtain rises … and then part one begins:)

I still don’t understand how DG is a satisfactory ending to the first film. It’s a very satisfactory ending to Act 1 of the show because you go into the interval eager to come back in 20 minutes to see what happens but imagine leaving at the interval? Nothing is resolved. I don’t get it. The expectation is for the film to have that same feeling after Defying Gravity - wow that was amazing, can't wait to see what happens next, but the interval will be a year long. I wouldn't be surprised if they brought the 2nd film forward and release it as one of the summer blockbusters. But if the 1st part is badly received, then the 2nd part could ne streaming on Amazon Prime by Easter.

Does anyone know if the time clock dragon is included in the movie in any way? You can see it above the clock in the shot of the front of shiz at about 24 seconds into the trailer

The latest episode in the Staged Right YouTube channel is a fifty minute documentary about the politics and origins of Wicked. It’s a deep dive!

Now in direct competition with Gladiator 2 instead, I guess they are banking on those two demographics having less overlap than with the Disney/Moana/musical crowd.

I can see Gladiator II moving up a week as well as it's already scheduled to be released earlier overseas.
That means apart from November 1st that there will be a new release every week in November although could see Here, the new Robert Zemeckis film move earlier.

In the stage show where Glinda and Elphabah go to Oz to see The Wizard, they go to see the show Wizzamania when sunglasses are placed on their faces and those three puppet men with the extendable necks run out.
I wonder if the putting on of the sunglasses and the puppet men will appear in the film?

Went to the cinema today to see Deadpool and interestingly they showed a slightly altered version of the Wicked trailer to what was previously released. A couple of new clips but most notably they have cut Ariana singing Popular. They probably want to hide it’s a musical from the Deadpool crowd.

As someone who has never seen Wicked and am only really familiar with the most iconic songs like Defying Gravity and Popular - both of those songs (I think) appear in Part One. I'm just curious, what would you say is the best song in Act Two, which you're looking forward to seeing in the second film? It just seems like all the things Wicked is known for is in part one and, aside from finishing the story, part two might be lacking.

I think the two that come my mind are Thank Goodness and No Good Deed. Thank Goodness has such a sad undertone to it which can sometimes get lost on stage but could work beautifully on film. And No Good Deed is just epic and will be great to see Cynthia go full Wicked Witch. But I think that actually what I’m most interested to see with Part 2 is how they weave in the Wizard of Oz storyline

By the end of Act II we know who the Tim Man is, and why he has no heart. We know the the Scarecrow is, and why he has no brains. We know why there was a tornado that lifted the farmhouse from Kansas and landed Dorothy and Toto into Oz. We see Glinda grow as a person. We understand Elphabah's connection to The Wizard; why he needs her and she him. We also learn that Elphabah is not Wicked- she's severely misunderstood.
