Yes, but there was reports that the ruby slippers would make an appearance in the Wicked movie's so I was wondering if the slippers will be changing colors back and forth from silver to ruby Doubtful. In the trailer they were silver when on Nessarose’s feet in the Oz Dust Ballroom, and they were silver when Dorothy arrives to see the Wizard. So it doesn’t seem like they change colour at any point. We may get a surprise and they’ve been changed in post production, but as it stands it looks like they’re entirely silver. Not even when Elphaba puts the spell on them to enable her to walk? Maybe they're red when the house falls on her? I love the rainbow design on the shoe, it's a great call back to the original film and THAT song

What are the chances of a second Wicked movie look at the Oscar’s, 3/10? High or not possible?

What are the chances of a second Wicked movie look at the Oscar’s, 3/10? High or not possible? I’d highly doubt it. We were lucky to even get a trailer at the Super Bowl as it is still fairly early. There’s plenty of movies that come out before Wicked that haven’t even had a first trailer yet.

Too bad they didn't adopt the release strategy for WICKED that Kevin Costner's HORIZON is getting ... Part 1 is being released June 28 and Part 2 August 16. That makes a whole lot more sense than making people wait an entire year for the 2nd part.

I can’t fathom why they think this is a good idea to make 2 films at all, apart from it making more money. It’s not that deep of a story, far from it. The story doesn’t naturally end with DG, that song is not a conclusion in any way. I can’t imagine leaving the cinema feeling satisfied having seen her fly off on a broomstick. It just doesn’t work.

It’s obviously to do with money but the only way that they make money is if they have genuinely good movies. People aren’t going to the cinema like they used to and if part 1 is rubbish then it will bomb at the box office and then part 2 will be dead on arrival. Part 1 being a disaster just isn’t an option for them as they will then have that hanging over their heads for a whole year as they try and promote the next movie. Universal could have easily played it safe and made one movie but they must have felt really confident about how the movie was shaping up during preproduction to green light it for 2. We might not see the vision yet as to how they are expanding this story into 2 parts but personally I’m feeling quite optimistic about it. I’m also totally prepared to eat my own words when the movie comes out and it’s awful.

I think people are wary of two part movies. It's years since Harry Potter and Twilight made it a thing. Sure Dune is doing well but I think good word of mouth helped it. MI Dead Reckoning Part 1 barely made money because people are thinking they'll wait till both parts are out and the movie wasn't that great so word of mouth wasn't there to carry it But as you say cinema isn't doing great nowadays and your movie has to really stand out to draw in people. Even a clever marketing ploy like Barbenheimer. Musical films are difficult to sell to the general public to begin with. Didn't the Mean Girls remake movie trailer hide the fact that it's a musical? I do wonder if Universal left it too long to do this Wicked movie.

Over the past several years Hollywood keeps narrowing the theatrical window more and more, especially following the pandemic, moving films from their theatrical release to digital and streaming platforms within 90 days. Their philosophy is to ride the coattails of the films theatrical marketing campaign rather than have to mount an entirely new campaign for the digital/streaming release. By releasing the films a year apart aren't they putting themselves in a position of having to maintain the interest/excitement level for the second film for an entire year and thus having to increase their marketing budget for that extended period and that doesn't even take into account what if the first film underperforms from their expectations ... now they are not only forced to continue marketing the second film for an entire year PLUS try and figure out how to avoid the same thing happening with the second film. If they were determined that there was a need to split this into two films then I think they would have been better off delaying the release of the first film so that they could have released the two films a couple months apart rather than a whole year. A year's "INTERMISSION" is a pretty big risk in my opinion.

I’m also totally prepared to eat my own words when the movie comes out and it’s awful. No studio wants a movie to fail, and Universal can't control what reaction the movie gets when it comes out. The failure isn't an option argument doesn't hold much weight in reality. As mentioned Mission Impossible was expected to be a huge hit. Previous attempts to do more Oz movies also dont have a great track record at the cinema either. There are rumours Universal want to bring Oz to their theme parks eventually. This is obviously about money (and not a few extra songs) and reinventing the IP. Their gambling big on this. I expect the marketing campaign will be massive too.

If Dreamgirls can carry on after 'And I Am Telling You' i'm pretty sure its an easy transition after Defying Gravity. It's pure greed and nothing more. There isn't really a huge amount extra in the 2nd film. Certainly no different major storylines

Act 2 of ‘Wicked’ is vastly inferior to 1, so it seems bonkers to put it out there on its own, new songs or no new songs? The new ones must be something special to make them think it worthwhile.

Bowen Yang said on his podcast that “the tinman and scarecrow help elphaba escape.” Is this a new change for the movie that boq helps elphaba? Or did he simply misspeak?

Certainly no different major storylines Bowen just said the tinman helps elphaba escape along with the scarecrow… that kind of implies a huge plotline change as boq hates elphaba in the musical. it also changes the interpretation of march of the witch hunters

Or go really old school, make it longer and put an intermission in the film?
Lights come up after Defying Gravity, you wheel out a trolley with some Pop-ular-corn, some sort of green drink, and dark and white chocolate witches' hats. Excited buzz of chatter In the interval as people can discuss the first half, make some extra money on the confectionary, and people can manage a 3.5+ hour film because there's a built-in loo break.

It’s more likely that the trailer will be attached to a big summer release from the studio. It’s rare that a teaser and trailer for such an anticipated movie is released so quickly after one another.

I think considering the massive tumbleweed that blew through the ceremony last year when they debuted 'The Little Mermaid' trailer, which by all means appealed to the children and gays watching at home, wasn't particularly relevant for those attending, it was better to not have this exclusive.
