I cannot fathom
Why or that anyone would pay £150 or £200
When you could have seen from close up at Almeida for £10 or £12
People have more money than sense
Better and cheaper to become a patron rather than throw money down the drain in a horrible WE venue

Some people may not have been able to see it at the Almeida. There are always circumstances.

That was the case with Tom Holland in Romeo and Juliet as well earlier this year and it'll happen again if another well known actors of the new generation of actors decides to do theatre.

Especially as the announcement co-incides with the launch of one of the biggest films of the year - Gladiator II. Matinee idols still have pulling power it seems, not that Mescal really needs the extra oomph.

I know Jonathan Bailey isn't the lead of Wicked but I bet the Bridge are kicking themselves they didn't wait to release tickets for Richard II.

A trip down recent memory lane for some, here >> became curious, I had to look back at the emails. Turns out I booked three performances at the Almeida on 6th Sept 2022; Tammy Faye (£30 - yikes) and Streetcar twice (same seat both times; Stalls, slim pillar: £20 each). Total of £70. Point being, the 6th Sept would definitely have been the start of public booking and it doesn't look to have been that hard to book the seats you wanted (this was pre-Patsy but PM was still the big draw). In other news, this stuck me as mildly interesting; I booked Streetcar for the 27th of December 2022, and this year I've booked Cat on a Hot Tin Roof for the 28th December - I have a biannual Tennessee Williams Christmas tradition

Interesting that it’s still not completely sold out. Struggling to shift those £200 seats I see.

Interesting that it’s still not completely sold out. Struggling to shift those £200 seats I see. Good! Wishful thinking I know but hopefully that helps send a message to the producers that there IS a cap on what people are willing to pay. Or that there’s only a small pool of people happy to pay that much! Interestingly though, whilst we’re baulking at £200 a seat this time around, there were package seats at up to £300 when this was at the Phoenix last year. I know as I eventually got one for £85 thanks to dynamic pricing going in my favour for once. No cheeseboard, but a great seat at an acceptable price in the end.
