There was another ill-fated production of Billy with Jonathan Morris, which never opened. I have a flyer for it , dated 1991, from the Palace Theatre in Manchester. It’s one musical I’d like to see revived .

Hair - another one I've just thought of. In New York in 2010 on my last night I had to choose between Hair and Arthur Laurents revival of West Side Story. I chose WSS as I'd never seen it on stage and I thought it would be very exciting to see it in New York where it was set. The production was so dreary (you wouldn't think it possible with such a great piece) like something that had been in mothballs since the 50s. Then Hair was announced for London but it flopped and closed before I could get over from Ireland to see it. I've always regretted missing it - twice.

I regret not seeing Hadestown when it was on, both times. . Yes - this is a more recent one that I really regret missing as I got a bit obsessed with the Broadway cast album a while back. I’m still hoping that it will return as a commercial transfer (as opposed to another limited run at the National) at some point - it won multiple Tonys and seems to be a hit…

I did see "Bombay Dreams" and found it very enjoyable, I was getting into Bollywood films at the time and had been reading a fair amount of Indian fiction for 20 years or so. It was a good time to watch it. "ShaKalaka Baby" sounded like an authentic Bollywood classic from the moment it was released.
Would like to have seen "Matador" and "Heathcliff" - for the subjects more than anything. I blush to admit I've never see "The Rocky Horror Show" on stage, only the movie.

joem Rocky is generally always on somewhere (just like the the Mousetrap!) because of this I didn't see it for years. I've now seen 3 times and it's fab.

Would love to have seen the original production of Sunset Boulevard with Betty Buckley.
I can remember seeing her as if it was yesterday, her glorious voice ringing up to the rafters. She was stunning. And yet I also loved Glenn Close in the role despite her lacking the Buckley belt.

Likewise Elaine who was my first Norma. Went in blind and was blown away by both show and star.

I´m younger than the average board member, so there´s so many shows I didn´t get to see; but I´ll always really resent not seeing the original London Phantom with the 27-piece orchestra in my first few trips to London.

Lord of the Rings. If only there was a filmed version. Saw it 3 times - great. There was a bootleg around a few years back but it was truly awful.

Saw The Lord of the Rings.Visually stunning with some terrific direction and designs. The battle scenes were epecially exciting and well choregraphed..even thought one of the cast nearly lost a leg on the revolve but the last thing it needed was musical numbers.Imagine Harry Potter and the Cursed Child with songs! In fact I don't know if I would class it as a musical as the music tended to be "incidential" as in the movies and from my memory didn't actually forward the plot or add anything to any person's characterisation. It could have been a big spectacular theatrical experience on it's own without stopping for musical numbers bearing in mind it was presented in 3 acts and 2 intervals. The second interval was a 5 minute set change, with Uruk-hai bouncing up and down the aisles and scaring the audience, who remained seated with the house lights down. And delighted to say that Adam Salter, the chap who suffered a very nasty leg break during rehearsals, went on to make a full recovery and has long since returned to the business.

Saw The Lord of the Rings.Visually stunning with some terrific direction and designs.T Yeaaa... right. We had got front row seats in the stalls through TKTS and then that massive spider lumbered onto the stage... good times for this arachnophobe I can deal with Spiderman landing right in front of me but that thing was a bridge too far.

Stephen Ward, out of sheer curiosity! I really enjoyed it, I even got one of the few pressings of the cast recordings

I am sorry to miss
CALENDAR GIRLS and BEND IT LIKE BECKHAM
in the WestEnd.
And as one of the rare Cats-Fans I would have loved to see the version at the Kilworth House Theatre. Loved the set a d the costumes I have seen online. And the cast seemed really talented.

This is kind of cheating since as far as I'm aware it's not even been on in the UK during my lifetime (at least not in any major productions) but I've recently become quite obsessed with the Nine OBCR and surely it must be due a revival already? It's seemingly been almost 30 years since it was professionally done in London anyway (and I can't find any other recent UK productions from my very brief googling).

Both Nine and Grand Hotel haven't had a major UK revival since they were done memorably at the Donmar. Both would merit investigation by a talented director/choreographer. (Interesting that Nine seems to be very popular in South America and Spain. Maybe it plays better in Spanish or Portuguese than in English with a sprinkling of Italian which can be tricky to do well.)

Stephen Ward, out of sheer curiosity! That’s one I wished I’d never seen, still get nightmares lol I really regret not seeing Starlight Express, love the music now but was just not interested at the time. I would love to see Martin Guerre done again. The WaterMill did a good version and I hoped it would transfer but never did.

Time - the Musical. I know it's been regarded as not a brilliant show, but I do like a lot of the songs that I've heard on the soundtrack, so would be keen to see it. On a similar note I've never seen Return to the Forbidden Planet either.
I'm surprised that The Who's Tommy hasn't had more productions. I'd love to see a version of that on stage.

When I did my SM degree my tutor kept going on and on about “Time” being the most technologically advanced show ever made etc. I tried talking about Spider-Man, LotR, she hadn’t seen them but shut me down with a “you’re wrong”. Its either the most incredible show ever or my tutor was stuck in the eighties. (She didn’t know a D3 from a fresnel and gave a course in lighting - seriously)

It's not that it was actually any good, mind you, so I guess it'd purely be nostalgia for me. I still play the concept album from time to time and weirdly enjoy it - it's something of a guilty pleasure. I'd also love to see someone stage The Time Lord - the original fringe musical which was the seed from which Time grew. Did anyone here see that? I guess it was the late seventies or early eighties.
