Must have been lucky but got straight through and got tickets for the Saturday Grand Final preview at 1pm. Which works perfectly me for me as I won't need to find any accommodation in Liverpool and can be home in time to watch the actual live show that evening Well done. Thats the one I'm trying for and the time bar is about half way along now. Can I ask, does it allocate you seats or can you choose your own? You couldn't choose your seats. I rushed through it so this might not be fully correct but from what I remember it gave me a choice of standing or seated and then it allocated me seats from there

Well I got through the queue for the Thursday afternoon Semi-Final Preview. Standard seats and standing appear completely sold out, but there’s plenty of availability for the premium hospitality seats. Unfortunately they are out of my price range so I won’t be going. So close!

I tried for the final preview but nothing available. Didn't expect to get anything but worth the try

They appear to have limited access to the queue to one per Ticketmaster account, so attempts to game the system with multiple Google accounts aren't working. Totally fair, and I'm surprised that isn't done by other companies. However, this being the hopeless Ticketmaster, there are server errors all over the place. They only seem to be numbering queue positions up to 2000. Mine just has 2000+, so could be millions ahead of me. Don't rate my chances. I was able to find my real queue position in the HTML source. It was 63,000-odd. My progress bar was one quarter of the way across when the pop-up message announced the Grand Final had sold out, so you probably had to be in the first 10,000 to get a ticket. CORRECTION: Just seen Tweets from people around 1,600 to 1,800 in the queue who failed to get through in time to get Grand Final tickets. My other half got through for an earlier show after twenty minutes, but that was already sold out too. If you then asked to look at other shows, you were put to the back of the queue. Interestingly, my queue-id on laptop 1 was identical to my queue-id on laptop 2, and thus identical queue positions, so they were wise to multiple devices as well as multiple browser accounts. To game this, you would have needed multiple Ticketmaster accounts, probably with different home addresses, and credit cards linked to each address. So, a partially fair process, but can be gamed by roping in extended family members to try for you. An actual lottery, with a given timeslot to buy for winners, would have been better, and would have avoided wasting lots of people's time and falsely raising expectations. Could have done without all the "500 internal server error" messages too. If you had two sessions each trying to buy a different Eurovision event, you did get two independent queue-id's and two queue numbers, according to the experience of my husband.

Beware! There are lots of Twitter accounts saying they no longer want their Eurovision tickets, usually with a picture of an innocent-looking young female on the profile, and asking you to DM. These are scammers. They usually have only retweets or automated messages posted. Do not send anyone like this your money. You won't see it again, and you will not be getting into the show, however tempted you are.

Managed to get two for the Saturday afternoon preview, so well pleased with that. The plan will then be to join in with whatever is going on in Liverpool in the evening.

Why is it “obscene”? All events have to be paid for. If wealthy individuals, or a corporate booking, can contribute a large chunk towards that costs then why not?

If wealthy individuals, or a corporate booking, can contribute a large chunk towards that costs then why not? A rare, national event like this, where demand massively exceeds supply, should be allocated fairly, say by lottery, not by touts and to the uber rich. Some people are effectively able to use their wealth to get something the rest of us had to queue for. I know that's how capitalism works, but I don't have to like it. It fair turns my stomach in fact.

I understand that yes things become very expensive when they are in high demand and people are willing to pay, but it does always seem a little sad and distasteful when an event that people of all walks of life enjoy essentially prices people out due to greed.

From Wikipedia (yes, I know, but anyway): “Eurovision is a non-profit event, and financing is typically achieved through a fee from each participating broadcaster, contributions from the host broadcaster and the host city, and commercial revenues from sponsorships, ticket sales, televoting and merchandise.” So where is the greed? If having a private suite can contribute £45k to the cost of the event then I’d rather that than adding a few extra seats and sharing the £45k on top of all the existing ticket prices.

Having been unsuccessful in buying regular tickets, yes, we actually looked at the suites. We didn’t buy and were shocked at the prices, but in fact they were sold out quickly. Ultimately, 25 suites x £45,000 is for corporate entertainment and may help subsidise the other seating. The prices for the previews ranged from £10 to 14k to £18k for a semi-final. Outrageous yes, but just posting for info.

Well done anyone who got tickets. A Radio 4 investigation made it clear how few went to actual fans. Expect to see quite a few empty seats as touts have to walk fans to their seat (showing id) BBC News - Eurovision tickets: How touts get to the front of the online queue www.bbc.co.uk/news/newsbeat-64893863

Surprised to see zero comment on our entry. Or maybe not, given that it’s pretty awful.

Maybe it's done on purpose as we couldn't afford to host 2 years running. The song sounds very Eastern European Eurovision.

I don’t think it’s awful at all. Frankly it’s a bit of a bop. It’s very radio friendly and getting much more air time than our acts in recent years. It has sat at number one on iTunes over the past couple of days and is climbing the streaming charts.
Is it a winner? No I don’t think so. It’s not a particularly competitive song. But with some good staging I could see it hitting the left hand side of the leader board. It helps that it’s incredibly catchy.

I think our entry should be called ‘No, Ta. Can’t afford to host it again’. It certainly sounds like its been written with that mission statement in mind.

I wasn't sure on our entry at first but it's really growing on me. It's catchy, a bit of an ear worm and sounds like something you'd hear in the charts at the moment. The singer apparently has a growing following too.
I think it could do well, it's certainly a respectable entry and (aside last years) better than most of our entries the last 20 years or so.

There are a number trying to emulate the success of Italy with rock numbers. Plus a number trying to recreate the Dutch winning ballad the title of which always eludes me but had the lyrics 'loving you is a losing game'
The UK, Austrian and Israeli entries are almost interchangeable.
Loreen's effort is no Euphoria and I think she is overstated in the betting.
I quite like the French song. And that is one I can't vote for as I will be in France at the time!

Happy, happy, happy - fan club tickets still being allocated and we've got seats for the Jury events, the nights before the live broadcasts... identical show but just without voting...

Happier, happier, happier - being in the right place at the right time and we're now going to the live TV events, not the Jury events. Both semis and the grand final. Won't be able to afford to eat for the rest of the year, but it's a one-off event...
